As much is I claim I don’t like coming into town there is just so much Austin has to offer and Mour Café is one of those things! It’s a little slice of heaven!! It has a wine, beverage, snacks store at the entrance of the property then you move into a beautiful seating area within the restaurant, they also have a small but really nice patio surrounded completely by their very own herb garden with what looks like might be a honeysuckle vine or some other kind of vine covering the entire surrounding of the patio. All in bloom with little white flowers, could even be jasmine but didn’t have a heavy scent, Just a lovely atmosphere. And I also want to mention there is seating out front each little area devised for two people. They are very attentive to following Covid standards and require face coverings if you are not eating or drinking. Once we were seated it couldn’t of been more than a half a minute when our awesome waiter appeared. His name is Jackson and he was so attentive, it felt like we were very special customers! My daughter frequents the establishment and says that’s just how he is, all the time, to all his customers. Amazing! Oh, something really important is the patio is dog friendly and several people took advantage of that so there was some incredibly cute dogs hanging around while we were noshing and talking, drinking wine and just having a good time in general! We were there just a few minutes before happy hour started so we ordered a Beet and Goat Cheese Salad to share. If you wanted to make it more of a meal you could add a protein but we wanted to try several appetizers since this was my first time there so we decided to keep it light. I have to tell you it was the best Beet and Goat Cheese Salad I’ve ever had. It had a large quantity of blanched red beets, full of flavor, which is always what seems to be missing in other salads labeled with the same description. There was also a nice circle of goat cheese, some beautiful lettuces and gold beets that were raw, sliced into shoestrings. It was just beautiful! Truly a work of art! It tasted as good as it looked! It was a large portion for $10 so a very good value and the dressing was quite light so felt like we were eating something on the healthy side! It is one of my daughters go to’s and she usually doesn’t share it! They offer a happy hour from 5 to 6 PM and their appetizers are five dollars at that time. After a small bit of discussion we chose the shaved brussels sprouts and the guacamole and chips, all freshly made to order. When Jackson delivered the appetizers, I had to remark that it was such a nice thing that everything came out of the kitchen and looked so beautiful and appetizing. My daughter who was my dining companion was drinking a full-bodied red wine that she bought in the little store in the front of the restaurant. With Covid they have had to decrease their bar stock so you can buy a bottle of wine and they only charge a five dollar corkage fee. You really can’t beat that. I am not a red wine drinker so I opted for a watermelon wine spritzer that had a lot of watermelon puree to it and I really enjoyed it. It was very refreshing. Take a look at the pictures below and make way to your next happy hour at Mour Café..... you won’t regret it!!! Please be aware this was just a tiny tasting of their menu, they have a little bit of everything and a tip would be that according to those that have eaten it their Pork Belly Fried Rice is to die for, And they make a mean Chicken Tiki Masala! I love to eat at places like this and work my way through the menu. I think I’d have to come to Mour every week for a few years to get everything tasted but I bet it would be a fantastic journey. Thanks again!! Jackson, for the great...

Example of items you can get are:
Watermelon Salad: watermelon is one of my least favorite fruits, but here it’s done pretty well because it’s seared which gives it a unique smokey contrast that you won’t really find elsewhere. Pair it with the vinaigrette of the salad and you get a good combination of flavors that’ll surprise you. ($10)
Tlayuda: this is inspired by the street food you find in Oaxaca, Mexico. It’s essentially like a giant tostada, but the corn tostada is chewy rather than crunchy. This comes with chorizo, asiento, black beans, cabbage, radish, tomato, avocado, and Oaxaca cheese. This one is pretty good! ($15)
Duck Carnitas: duck can be a hit or miss depending where you go, but they cook it well here as they braise it for hours which makes it really flavorful and tender. I’m also not a fan of egg, but because this comes with other ingredients like the duck, the chimichurri sauce, and the tortilla - it pairs fine. Great portion for the $6 you pay. (Usually tacos like these are more expensive elsewhere)
Seafood Basket: I’ve always been hesitant with fried fish since my only experience was Long John Silver’s growing up, but this is so much better since it’s higher quality pieces of beer battered cod and gulf shrimp. Great crunchy outside, soft tender inside. Comes with a chipotle aioli to dip in! ($14)
House Burger: look, if you’re not in the mood to try something different, you can’t go wrong with their burger. What’s different about this is it comes with bacon jam and wow, if you never had bacon jam before, then you should change that because it’ll change the way you eat a burger. ($14)
Chicken Sandwich: you could also go with their classic chicken sandwich. Only difference here is they add bacon and sun-dried tomato pesto! Good healthier dish if you’re not in the mood for a burger either. ($12)
Deviled Eggs: I put this last on purpose because I simply am not a fan of deviled eggs. Not a fan of the “sour” texture nor the texture. HOWEVER, that is not exclusive to Mour Cafe. I’ve never been a fan no matter where I have tried them. ($8)
All in all, Mour Cafe is a nice laid back place that provides you with a ton of good options to choose from. Prices are fair, the staff are kind, and overall I had a good time. I give them a 4/5 for being good! Come...
Read moreI recently visited MOUR Cocina in Austin during happy hour, eager to experience what the restaurant had to offer. Unfortunately, my visit fell short of expectations due to a series of service-related issues.
Upon arrival, I was disappointed by the staff’s apparent frustration when I took a moment to review the menu and ask questions. As a first-time guest, I would have appreciated a bit more patience and understanding, especially when engaging with unfamiliar diners.
The real issue arose when I ordered a simple dish—deviled eggs—during happy hour. Despite the relatively low number of customers in the restaurant, my order took an excessive 35 minutes to arrive. Additionally, it took three attempts by the server to recognize that the dish had never been delivered to my table. Given that I had only ordered two items, this level of oversight was both confusing and frustrating.
Further compounding the issue, I was left to flag down another server to receive my check, as my original server was nowhere to be found. When I had the opportunity to speak with the manager about my concerns, I was met with a dismissive response, and it seemed as though my feedback was not taken seriously.
On a positive note, the coquito was a standout and truly enjoyable. I would recommend it to others looking to try something unique from the menu.
However, considering the lack of attentive service and overall miscommunication during my visit, I would recommend exploring other dining options in Austin for a more enjoyable and seamless experience, particularly during happy hour. It appears that there may be better alternatives in the area that place a higher value on customer service and...
