I would like to start off that the staff at Garbo South Shore location are very friendly. However I am very disappointed about the pricing discrepancy that has made my experience negative. When you book online they have clear set service prices that very by hair stylist. You put half down when you book your appointment and then pay the rest after the service.
With my experience, I put half down making it $150 dollars. When I showed up for my service the stylist gave me a consultation upped the price to $480 . I then asked her if that included the $150 that I already paid and she said yes, explaining that I would just need to pay the remainder of the $330 dollars after my service.
After my hair service was completed the stylist informed me "that you have more hair than I thought and I had to use more product so it will be more than what was originally quoted." They then told me I had to pay an additional $525 dollars not including the $150 dollars I had already paid when booking my appointment. I just had a haircut and Highlights btw.
In total I paid $675 dollars for a haircut and highlights. Which is more than half of the original agreed upon price. I do believe that charging more than the agreed upon service is an unethical business practice. I would like to preface that during my service not once did my stylist say it would cost more but she waited until after the service was done. The order in which this was carried out, feels like I was stuck in a bait and...
Read moreUnfortunately, Garbo's has gone downhill in the last few months... I don't know why, but it's a shame. My family and I used to go exclusively there for our haircuts (kids and parents), and before about 3 months ago we were always happy with our haircuts. However, we have recently tried to get all of our haircuts done at Garbo's, and all of our regular haircutters/stylists were no longer there. In their place were new stylists with no experience, and they royally messed up my childrens' haircuts, including mine and their mothers'. We went back for touchups a couple of days after our cuts, at no charge, but those touchups didn't improve anything. In fact, they made it worse. So we all ended up going to a very expensive salon in Westlake to correct the mistakes the stylists did at Garbo's. To the owners of Garbo A Salon, what is going on there? Why are all your experienced stylists and haircutters leaving? And why are you hiring inexperienced stylists but still charging the regular rate? I would love to return to your shop, it's very close to where we live, but we have wasted so much time (3 hair cut appointments for each of us in 2 weeks) to get a regular haircut. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has noticed the drastic decrease in service...
Read moreGo see Anne! She is amazing at what she does, friendly, professional, and fun. She communicates a vision very clearly, and she's able to execute that vision with impeccable accuracy. My hair was heavy and uncomfortable when I found Anne, so I was begrudgingly ready to cut it all off. However, Anne is able to keep my hair long, light, but also keep a very natural look and movement. I don't even bother to bring in photographs to discuss with her anymore, although she is an excellent listener if that is what you prefer. She listens attentively and asks questions to clarify. However, she just knows what my hair needs, so now I just trust her do her thing. After every appointment I think I have the perfect haircut, but Anne always has new ideas at my next appointment. She looks at your hair like it is the first time she's ever seen it at the beginning of the appointment, so you always get the best outcome.
