We visited the Raising Cane's River Center for the Baton Rouge Block Party Volleyball Tournament March 26-27, 2022. If it wasn't for the greed of whomever managed this event, it could have been a wonderful experience.
Our first referee (up-ref) passed out mid court. We found out later that management prevented her from brining in any drinks and charged them and all guests $6 per bottled water. This ref laid on the floor for 20 min before EMTs put her on a stretcher. Some of the 15 yr old girls were crying as they thought she died. The replacement ref said she felt dizzy on the stand and the parents went and bought her $6 bottles of water.
We wondered why it was so hot in the arena and one parent is an air-conditioning tech and asked management if the system was broken and offered to take a look at it. They informed us it was not broken but turned off. We can only conclude the AC system was turned off to save electricity and to encourage more people to buy $6 bottled water.
If the management is going to turn off the AC and require all visitors to buy high priced bottled water that is one thing. To prevent the referees and people working for you at low wages from brining in water and forcing them to buy it is just plain wrong. If they are paid $15/hr, and they drink two bottles of water per hour, they are basically working for you for free.
To top it off, our team won the championship. Management accidentally gave our medals to the 2nd place team.
Baton Rouge is beautiful and the local people are wonderful. We saw that from all the parents pulling together to provide water to the employees at their own cost and offering to fix their AC for free.
Raising Cane's, if you don't correct your management situation, people are going to stop paying thousands of dollars to visit your arena. All the people that love Raising Cane's chicken are going to associate the name with poor service and quality even if the arena has nothing to do with the chicken. Don't let that happen. For crying out loud just turn on the AC and provide your employees drinking water so they don't pass out. Not too...
Read moreLook it's a beautiful venue, lovely views of the city and river, it's clean, it's spacious, and absolutely everything from Disney was phenomenal! Disney on ice in totality was amazing! Their kiosk employees did their job , the show was breathtaking, but we're not here to talk about the show. I'm here because every employee of the actual raising Cane's River center venue in baton rouge was literally the rudest group of employees I've ever encountered! I know there's always a couple bad seeds but this was the totality of the staff. Anybody who was not affiliated with Disney but just the raising Cane's center were incredibly rude. And I'm not one to Go out of my way so leave bad reviews but I made a mental note that I would because of how severe their behavior was. Every parking garage attendant was yelling at literally anyone Even near the parking garage, security (And I roll my eyes at that) we're seemed literally offended that there were people there and God forbid. You asked any of them? A question, you don't only offend their sensibilities but their very existence! Sadly they rained on a magical parade , what should have been a magical lifetime memory full of excitement and joy, instead, me and my family will recall how appallingly rude the employees of the actual raising Cane's River center were. How unprofessional, unwelcoming, And least suited people for such a publicly demanding job! Again. Anybody affiliated with the Disney on ice show 10 out of 10, but if we're just so lely basing my experience with the raising Cane's River center employees experience, honestly, my three stars is me being generous. Basically it's atmosphere, views and general ambiance (and obviously the amazing show) is it's literal saving grace in...
Read moreI have been to many events at this venue over the years. It is beautiful since they remodeled it. However, they are no longer attendee-friendly. Their prohibited items list is oppressive and ridiculous, and we didn't know it until we arrived for a graduation this month. First of all, my brother-in-law LITERALLY could not take pictures of his OWN DAUGHTER at her GRADUATION CEREMONY because they refused to allow him to bring his camera in (he was allowed to take it in previously). He is not a professional photographer, he is just a man who invested in a nice camera to take pictures of his family. Second, I tried to take in some small bagged snacks for my toddlers to get them through the 3-hour graduation ceremony, and they refused to let me take them in. I had to throw them in the trash. Third, they almost didn't let my child bring in his drawing tablet (not a computer or an iPad, a DRAWING TABLET like a magna doodle). We had to fight for that. Fourth, they refused to allow people to bring in outside flowers, I'm guessing because they now sell them at the venue. Imagine not being able to choose the flowers that you bring to your granddaughter after all she has accomplished, and having to rely on this venue to price rape you on some mediocre bouquets instead. We are talking to the school and asking them to use the PMAC for graduations in the future. The River Center should be ashamed of themselves for these...
