Before I moved to Bay County, I looked to see where the closest LGS locations were going to be to me. This store was one of them. Within the first week of moving, my fiancee and I went into Bay City to check this place out and am I glad we did!
First of all: I'm a Transfemme agoraphobe. Specifically, I generally don't feel safe going into ANY kind of store. However, going into The Stadium, I immediately felt at ease. The staff were friendly, and gave off chill, easily friendly vibes that were warm and accepting.
If you're looking for cards, this store has you covered! Just about any type of trading card you are looking for, from Baseball, to Basketball, to Football, to Magic: the Gathering, to Pokemon, to One Piece, to Disney: Lorcana, they have an AMAZING variety to both sell and buy!
If you're looking for ways to protect and store your collection, they have everything you need. From soft sleeves to hard backs. From binders to protective boxes.
If you're into tabletop games, they have dice and campaign books galore. Sitting lonely in a corner of a store because Dungeons & Dragons has begun to be lost to the Forgotten Realms for reasons also as vast as their selection. They also provide supplies for those of you who put tedious detail into your beloved miniatures, giving them the detail of life they so deserve.
Through the week, they provide various activities to those who cherish their beloved hobbies, and crave the social interaction they give.
Hands-down, The Stadium is by far the most wonderful Hobby Shop and Game Store I've ever had the pleasure to patron. As long as they wish to continue welcoming me through their doors, I will welcome the honor to continue to do so and continue to call both the staff and those who also find comfort and friendship...
Read moreI've visited this store many times in the past, having been a regular for years of tournaments. Life happened, and after some time away, I’ve recently come back to play again. It’s clear that hosting quality, readily available tournaments across the popular card games is still a major focus of the store, and I respect that.
While I can see some differences in how the store is run these days, I still think it's a fantastic place to shop if you're looking for popular sealed TCG products. For example, as of the most recent Pokémon release (at the time of writing), they had plenty in stock... though at a relatively high markup. I don’t blame the store for this, as they want to maintain stock and attract customers and Pokémon is insanely popular right now. The pricing is still within a reasonable range compared to other local card shops.
They also carry a surprisingly wide selection of Dragon Shield sleeves for both Japanese-sized and Standard-sized cards, which is a big plus in my book.
My only real complaint is the lack of price tags on many items. I’m sure there’s a reason for this, but I’m not sure what it would be. Lastly, while most of the employees offer great customer service, there are a couple who could be much better.
If you're looking to play in tournaments locally in the Bay Area, this is without a doubt the...
Read moreBeen going to this store off and on for a few years and I will say, prices are solid on MTG Products. It's the best prices for packs in the area and they do have a good selection of singles in the display case. They also have a solid selection on card sleeves and deck boxes which is quite nice!
However some of the staff I feel are just incredibly rude. Like me being there is a bother to them it feels like. Even the few interactions pre-covid it was the same. To me it seems like nothing has changed in regards to customer service.
Don't get me wrong, there are a couple employees there that I feel do an awesome job. They say hello and ask if you need anything and overall give off the nice vibe. But the select few that I see often when I go in, I try to avoid or even leave if it's just them working.
It's rough because I really like the store and want to support it more but it's so difficult to justify to do so. Unless something with customer service changes, I'll limit the amount of time and money I'll...
