Update: It has been over a month now that I have been trying to receive my full refund back from fitness connection. Have only recieved half have left voicemails and they wont return calls. Going to charge back threw bank.
Signed up online to try a 5 day pass whenever my home gym at 24 hour fitness was shut down due to a power outage. I wasnt able to get the pass so I ended up going to another 24 hour in a different city. I got a call later on that evening from the general manager. Stating that they had a special for $10 down and $10 a month but that it had to be done tonight before 12 or the offer would expire. Normally I would take my time before a purchase or switching gyms and try out the facilities. I thought it would be a good idea since we pay much more than that at our (girlfriend & myself) gym currently with child care. I told him that I had already worked out but would like to come see the gym since the offer expired in a few hours but we would be bringing the little one and ask if child care would be available on the first day so my girlfriend could workout. He said no problem. I told my girlfriend about it and told her it wouldnt be any more than $40 to switch and it was a much better deal and free child care (later I looked like an idiot). When we got there all of a sudden it was $30 down each for the all inclusive package (childcare, other gyms, ext) and the $10 plan (home gym only no extras) that he was glorifying over the phone was all of a sudden "SHOULDNT EVEN BE CONSIDERED" Which isnt much more, we would have still came in and considered the gym for the $30 down package but being that I mentioned the child care to the general manager on the phone before showing up you think he would have mentioned that in his sales pitch. I definitely feel it was a bait and switch. He also failed to mention completely that the free child care would be free after the first few months of paying $30 a month and whatever other fees they tack on (had to find out from a review on google the day after). But all things considered this is still a very affordable gym with a great special. So expect it to be pack cause it is definitely busy. This is not the gym for a serious gym goer they have everything you could possible need but theres a line. The more upsetting part was that after we signed all the paperwork we where trying to get a friend that my girlfriend works out with to come in before the deal ends and the general manager was like oh there probably going to extend it to Sunday so she can come in whenever. I took the time to come in when I had already been to the gym that day. I would have preferred to test out my routine at the gym before committing but this is the business model they choose. They have signs on the wall that say deal ends midnight I'm sure If I went in there today and tomorrow they would still be here. The website says they want relationships with the customers built on integrity that's a joke. The only thing these people care about is getting as many people as they can to sign up and hope they dont figure out the racket until there first bill which will definitely be more than $10. Also the kids club was sad you had infants being trampled on by the older kids and the lady that was in charge was super rude and shouldnt be allowed to be around children. If you like standing and waiting more than lifting than your in luck. If it had not gone down like that we more than likely would have made the switch. Only reason I gave three stars is because the value is there if you stay long term and the equipment is all brand new and they have a huge variety I wish my gym had. My suggestion spend the little extra, get a real workout in and keep your stress levels down. Also if your reading this and the same thing happened to you there is a 3 day canceling period. You can get your money back but it's done online. Definitely won't be back or be recommending a friend. This gym has sold way to many memberships for the amount of space they have the least you can do is be forthcoming and back off the shady...
Read moreI joined back in late may to continue working out and being a person who was always traveling i heard they were in a lot of locations around the U.S. Before i joined them i was a snap fitness user and they were great but the nearest one was a good drive for me so i explained to them the issue and they were like we understand and so i canceled my membership with no issues and no fees...Then i joined Fitness connection and from day one it has been one issue after another and 150+ dollars later in the 3 month time frame i decided this relationship has run it's course so i called them and ask to stop my membership and they said either a letter to corporate or i had to come in person to the facility to cancel.. And at no point were they courteous about it. So i went in and talked with the ASM and started the process to cancel and the whole time i was being lectured on policies and contracts and i was like i am not here to hear all that i would like to cancel and leave...Then he was like we will being charging you one more fee because you have to give a 30 day notice before canceling and i was like dude you charged me this morning for my dues so by my count that's 31 days before the next due date. And he is like that's policy . And to top it off i cant use the gym since i have canceled my membership and even tho i have paid for the month...so i paid for a service that will not be rendered to me...So in tail i will be giving them almost 60 bucks and cant use the facility. Further more i used the personal trainer who in his 1 hour of training who spent 40 minutes of my time talking to others instead of doing his job..People are rude and disrespectful ..what ever happen to customer service. Not sure how this company works but i work for a company that goes out of there way for customer service and i guess that is why we are a billion dollar a year company for a reason and have more than 275 locations world wide...when our customers are unhappy we make them happy . Bright side to all this i called snap up and asked about rejoining them and they said welcome back and all i have to do is reset up my payment plan and no other costs for coming back..All i can say is fitness connection take notes from snap on how to treat customers...Join at your own risk is...
Read moreThey don't even deserve one star. This is one of the absolute WORST experiences I have ever had with a company. Every opportunity that they have to charge you extra money, they do. You can only cancel online and it takes a month to process so they charge you for another month. And there is no grace period if your initial monthly payment doesn't go through so they charge you twice as much on top of the monthly payment. The payments never come out at the same time so its always a surprise when it is taken out of the bank and as a college student, this is horrible as I have a very exact budget. I have been trying since January (it is now August) to cancel my membership and they never stopped charging me. I have called the store and was given the runaround by even the general manager and operations manager. So there is very poor upper management. When I was getting no where with this store, I called the cooperate office where i was forwarded to machine after machine. I only spoke to one actual person and she could not explain why a late fee was charged a whole month later. She offered to transfer me to the voicemail of the cancellation department and i directly told her that i wanted to speak to a person, yet she sent me to voicemail anyways. This company does not care about it's customers will only give you the run around if you have any sort of issue. If you are thinking joining, strongly reconsider. I recommend...
