I started going to ILKB-Beaverton upon a suggestion from my doctor to help reduce stress and high blood pressure (which was new for me). I was not expecting it to be as fun and social as it has turned out to be. It’s a wonderful community of supportive coaches and kickboxers. And the workout you get - lots of high intensity- is incredible. Don’t feel intimidated because everyone starts off as a newbie and the coaches will help you correct your form. The coaches know everyone by name so you always feel welcome and included in the community. Even if social isn’t your thing, you can just come to class and get a great workout. Every other Saturday Coach Zen Warrior Jen offers recovery yoga. (BTW, she really is a true warrior with the biggest heart ever!) The dojo also offers strength training and nutritional programs depending on what you want. I love that with a monthly unlimited membership I can do up to 4 body scans each month to see the progress I’m making. I love the fact that I’m getting strong, increasing my balance and stamina and gaining all the other health (physical and mental) benefits by kickboxing. My blood pressure is now totally normal and I’ve lost about 30 pounds over the last 7 months. I don’t think I would have stuck with this had it not been for the positive environment ILKB offers. Read moreAfter struggling to get back into a consistent workout routine to work off some extra weight gained during Covid, I decided to check out ILKB Beaverton. I’m glad to say it’s a decision I will never regret, the only regret is not starting sooner!
Initially, one may be intimidated by the rowdy crowd and all the phrases members yell during the class. However, after a few classes and getting to know the very welcoming members and staff, you will feel very comfortable and may even catch yourself joining in on the rowdiness.
Everything is at your own pace, which is great for those just starting out, no need to worry about keeping up with anyone. Instructors are there to help teach good form and technique, add modifications, and even show you some cool moves to level up your workout when ready.

The friendly, positive atmosphere keeps me coming back for more! The gym and equipment are always clean and well maintained and the instructors are always coming up with fun new workouts to keep us on our TOES!! It’s a great workout for all levels and ages and with constant instruction you can see improvements right from the beginning!
