UPDATE: AFTER BEING TURNED AWAY AS A NEW PATIENT THEY HAD THE AUDACITY TO CHARGE ME THE $150 CONSULT FEE. NEWSFLASH MTC YOU CANNOT CHARGE PEOPLE IF YOU HAVE REJECTED THEM AS A NEW PATIENT. THAT IS FRAUD AND I HAVE DISPUTED THE CHARGE. I AM REPORTING YOU TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BEREAU AS A RESULT OF YOUR SHADY ACTIONS!
I came to Modern Thyroid in crisis. My thyroid was tanking, my hormones were spiraling, and I was hanging onto my job and sanity by a thread. I reached out to them because they market themselves as different — a place for people who’ve been dismissed, misdiagnosed, or mistreated by conventional endocrinology. I thought: finally, someone who will look at the whole picture. I was dead wrong.
After a brief call with their staff, I was told I wasn’t a “good fit.” Why? Not because of any medical complexity. Not because I was hostile or inappropriate. But because I advocate for myself. Because I’ve fired doctors who failed me. Because I once pursued a legal complaint against an endocrinologist who treated me like a number and caused real harm. That was enough for Modern Thyroid to slam the door in my face.
They didn’t ask about my health history. They didn’t ask how I’m doing now. They didn’t ask what kind of care I was hoping for. They judged me based on red flags they created — which boil down to this: if you’re not compliant and quiet, you’re not welcome.
Their brand says they help patients who have been ignored by the system. But in reality, they’re just another gatekeeper with a nicer website and a concierge price tag. If you have any sort of medical trauma, if you’re used to advocating for yourself, or if you dare expect a provider to actually listen and treat you like a human being — Modern Thyroid will see you as a liability, not a patient.
This clinic is not for people seeking real partnership in their healthcare. It’s for people who nod and agree. Their whole message is a lie.
Avoid at all costs — especially if you’re fighting to be heard. I’ve never been more disgusted by a clinic that claims to offer compassionate,...
Read moreI had an un-diagnosed thyroid disorder for I believe at least 10+ years. Both of my older sisters have it and I had 9 out of 10 symptoms for years but three different doctors told I was very healthy, nothing was wrong, labs looked great, maybe I needed more exercise. After ending up in the heart hospital with a racing heart rate (tachycardia) at 160 beats a minute for 20 minute intervals for days on end - I finally had reached the end of my rope. The heart hospital said you aren't dying but go see your dr. I found a new general practitioner here in Austin who ran a full series of tests including a FULL thyroid panel (finally!) and it tuned out my thyroid was sending sos signals to my heart by this point. GP got everything under control with basic meds and I felt a little better but not great.
I know a lot of people spend a lot of time (years!) working with regular GP or endocrinologist but after I started researching this and talking to other friends, I decided I did NOT want to waste ANY MORE OF MY ONE AND ONLY LIFE being miserable due to thyroid disorder. I decided it would better to take my newly diagnosed self to the expert in town, McCall at Modern Thyroid Clinic.
After spending a good amount of time listening to me, REALLY LISTENING to me and pretty much completing my sentences at a couple of points- McCall RX'ed a combo/ strength of medication that immediately sent my thyroid numbers into the very narrow "ideal zone" - I'm not talking about the zone your dr is OK with - I'm talking about the super-amazing-I-feel-ten-years-younger-oh-my-God-i-knew-it-was-my-thyroid-all-along-zone.
I used to have to have a nap in the afternoon every day just to be able to function. I was in a total fog. Insomnia. Extra pounds. Always freezing - all gone. When I think about myself this time last year at 1:30 p.m. you could have found me napping in an over-sized t-shirt dress - now I am running around my neighborhood in a tennis skirt. I am so happy I called Modern Thyroid Clinic. There are some things you should spend the money on and this...
