A zealously regulated city park, CHB follows the trend of public access surrounded by private lands in that you are reminded by signs constantly telling you where you can and can't go. Kids in floaties cannot leave the kids' area, which extends all of 12 feet into the water, unless they pass a swim test. That's the point of the floaties! Be warned that this is not a real beach, but a set of concrete steps descending into a shallow rocky lake bed (think rocky river bed). If you plan to take your kids there, don't. Go to Lake Sammamish State Park or Juanita Beach Park instead, with their real beaches and large swimming areas. Last heads up item: be careful when existing the parking lot. As someone on Yelp posted, the exit is a steep uphill that crests at it's intersection with the very busy Lake WA Boulevard, and if you don't have a good opening, you have to sit for one while on the steep uphill, then squeal your tires and possibly hit bottom on the crest as you exit. Seriously, swim...
Read moreWhile I would like to rate this park based on its amenities, I can't get past the experience of having my car broken into, and finding the Bellevue police entirely unresponsive. The park itself is conveniently located, the swim area is well designed for small children, and the presence of public restrooms and a shower are all great features. However this is a very active prowl area where criminals are most likely hiding in their cars watching you park to see if you specifically hide anything in the trunk or under a seat, glove box, etc. so they can go straight at it once you walk down to the beach. Through my experience which involved the theft of an Ipad I purposefully placed in the trunk upon arrival, likely in plain view of someone hiding out watching, I have heard of dozens of additional car thefts at the park.
It's a lovely park; but they need to put up security cameras or...
Read moreThis is an amazing park, at the time I went it was not overwhelming full. The park offers public restrooms... Probably some of the cleanest you have ever seen for it being open to the public. The park also has a section for swimming in the lake. It has a dock and plenty of seating. The view of the lake is just amazing. The park offers some toys to play on. Mostly a jungle gym and slides. I do not recall seeing a swing set. There is a large area to let your dog run around playing fetch, or just relax under in the shade of the trees. This park is also a great place for a photo shoot be it with the water as a backdrop or the...
