Summary: Highly unprofessional doctor and staff, dismissive of patient rights, take absolutely no liability for gross medical negligence.
Note that even though there is limited documentation of lawsuits against Dr. Rosenblatt, he specifically has patients sign away their rights to legal action prior to receiving services. As such, any litigation would have been settled out of court with a private mediator (as stated in his required patient waivers of liability forms).
Following a very negative experience with Dr. Rosenblatt's front office staff prior to my first scheduled appointment, I wrote a review but figured it would be more constructive and potentially less damaging to his business if I reached out to him privately. I've included a screenshot of his response below in which he is highly dismissive and tells me not to contact him. Review below:
Found them on Groupon for IPL service. Upon calling to schedule, the front office staff member requested that I cancel my purchase with Groupon and instead pay them directly. I obliged.
Was not able to use their services due my concerns regarding the SEVERAL (like 5-6 separate forms) release of legal liability forms including releasing my right to file a medical malpractice suit. I added āwith the exception of gross negligence by the medical providerā which of course was not accepted.
I asked for clarification as my understanding from the forms was that I was signing over all of my rights carte blanche. I attempted to explain to the office staff member that I am willing to sign a waiver stating that I will not sue for the expected complications from the specific service under the assumption that standard practice clinical care was provided. Her immediate response was that I probably should not use their practice if I was uncomfortable.
I provided the example that if the medical provider were for example, to come in drunk and completely botch the service beyond treatment expectations that I would want the right to sue for medical malpractice. The office member took this literally and was visibly angry and offended that I was insinuating that she or her colleagues were unprofessional and would come to work drunk as in her words āobviouslyā that would never happen. Sigh.
Unfortunately, the office staff member was unprofessional, dismissive, rude, oddly aggressive, and just overall struggled to comprehend the nuances/complexities of the situation or communicate effectively-her ending statements were along the lines of it being 'The Chinese New Year and that she didnāt need this kind of energy.' (Words I never thought I'd hear in response to my medical care needs in the office of an MD/PhD!)
One of her more even-tempered colleagues in scrubs very politely and warmly tried to explain the rationale for the many releases (CYA is a necessity, I totally understand and frivolous lawsuits are costly and time-consuming). I appreciated her efforts! However without a background in medical-legal jargon myself or someone there that could explain it to me I did not feel comfortable moving forward. No matter how low risk the procedureā¦there are boundaries and basic rights that should be maintained.
Hoping that today was just an off day for this staff member (we all have them!). It was unfortunately a very negative experience for me that I believe could have been solved with a little communication and education about what the liability...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wanted to like it but... Beverly Hills Beauty Lab looks and feels like a medical office in the hood. However, the prices are the same as in the actual Beverly Hills Spa's. Office manager Elle is fun but she is really focused on meeting monthly sales goals, so be clear about her priorities when buying treatments she is recommending. Also, keep in mind that they will not consider individual client's needs, you will be sold procedures in packages, regardless of whether you are a good candidate, or not. Moreover, to close you on the package, they will not disclose potential side affects and won't say anything negative about the treatment, not to loose the sale. I had 4 scary moments at Beverly Hills Beauty lab:
This review is more for the interaction I had with the staff and the appearance of the office (Wilshire location). At no time did I have any interaction with Dr. Rosenblatt.
Let me start by saying I have been having laser treatments for some time at a location in Boston so I know what the procedure entails. This office was extremely underwhelming. The front desk, unwelcoming.
After my treatment, I felt very uneasy. The office itself felt dirty, the room looked as though it hadn't been vacuumed in I don't know how long. The bed they sat me on-- old and grungy. To top it all off, they ran out of gowns and didn't provide towels to wipe of the aloe they use. Also, something else I thought was odd, is that the woman put the aloe on with her hands (yes she had gloves on). The last location I went to used a popsicle like stick to apply it. The goggles they gave me were completely blacked out that I couldn't see a thing. Goggles are necessary, but this seemed ODD!! I like to see what is being done and want to make sure they are missing areas. Then, when the treatment was completely, there were towels provided to wipe off with. The tech told me to bring my own towel next time---WHAT?!?!
Treatment: The machine seemed weak and not what I am use to. I know there are many different laser machines, so who knows how well it works. The procedure itself was quick--so quick, it seems as though the tech did not seem very precise in the areas she was covering.
After sending an email and speaking with one of the girls, she suggested I write an email documenting what happened, I did. I have an app that shows how many times my email was read, 2x--no response. So, I decided to call and speak with the office manager, Ingrid. She lacks the soft customer services skills that are detrimental in a service such as this. People are spending a lot of money and this was of no concern to her. When I expressed concern of the office she dismissed it and told me those are my standards. Should she not take pride in her place of employment? I would be embarrassed to work in such a place! She continued to speak over me and not let me get a word in, she then chose to hang up on me. Professional, I think NOT. How someone of her status "manager" can act that way is beyond me.
I requested for my money back and she said they do not give refunds. She did say I would get a call back after they had a meeting with management... we'll see if that happens. IF there is a positive outcome to this unfortunate circumstance I will update my review--until then, I'll wait and see if they make the right decision in refunding me my money.
This is FAIR WARNING to those thinking of heading here for laser hair removal--...
