Visit Big Bear launched fireworks over Big Bear Lake on July 4, 2025 despite a petition signed by nearly 41,000 people urging cancellation. Eaglets Sunny and Gizmo had recently fledged from their nest, and fireworks posed a very real risk of disturbing or disorienting the juvenile eagles during a critical stage of learning to hunt and navigate. Beyond the eagles, fireworks raise serious concerns about wildlife disturbance, water pollution, and the ever-present danger of wildfire in a dry mountain environment. By ignoring concerns, Visit Big Bear demonstrated that commerce was valued over wildlife, public safety, and the integrity of the lake and forest. Bald eagles are not only living beings to be protectedâthey are the very symbol of our countryâs freedom and strength. That symbol should take precedence over commerce, and it should be celebrated and safeguarded, not put in jeopardy for the sake of entertainment.    Read moreA must visit. The staff there went well beyond the call of duty.We asked if they knew of any places that had kayaks available to rent and that could fit three people. A staff there named a place and even called them for us to confirm whether they had one available for to us to rent. Also, the staff mentioned that an event that was going to happened the next day and if we brought a coupon, it would be free to enter. The staff pointed out that the coupon was in a newspaper and instead of just handing the newspaper to us, the staff actually cut them out for us. The friendly and knowledgeable staff here definitely made our trip a much more pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend that you make the visitor center your first stop to not just find out information but to get coupons to various attractions...
   Read morePlace it self is ok nothing negative about the place, but I felt discriminated against in the most political manner possible, the brown headed lady at the front wast robotic and had a negative demeanor. There was a blond lady that stood up when the door opened but when she saw us she sat back down and the third lady was in her email business. The third lady seemed like the boss. I will be sending an email to the mayor and the city to have more positive individuals to work, specially at a WELCOME center. Now I see why there are so many houses for sale. Lack of that positive and Christmas cheer around these neck...
