Laguna Grill Restaurant — Restaurant in Big Bear Lake

We came around 2, but it wasn't too busy. Sat outside because we had dogs. Ordered sodas, tacos and fajitas. Everything up to the delivery of the food was fine. She came and dropped off the drinks and chips and salsa. When she delivered the food we asked for more salsa (it was empty) and a soda refill, she confirmed which salsa we meant and went back inside, 15 minutes later still hasn't received either. Our server had never come back or even sent anyone else out to check on us since she was at the register. When I opened my fajita shell dish, they only gave me 2, so when we flagged down another server since ours wasn't coming back they said "if it's a shared meal we'll have to ask for more shells from the kitchen"...WHAT? We told him it only came with two. he looked at my plate (which was only half gone, with no shells left) and said it comes with three, and if the meal gets share you'll usually run out... My husband ate his tacos and I are my fajitas, he even gave me the second layer of shell that came from his tacos because our server disappeared, so the only sharing was on his end. Also I'm not sure why it matters, if we're paying for the food either way. And I've never ordered fajitas from ANYWHERE and only gotten two shells then been hassled for asking for more. WHO DOES THAT? Extremely dissatisfied with the service here. They made us feel like we were asking for outlandish things and it was inconvenient and inappropriate for them to get it for us. Chicken and shrimp fajitas: The food was super tasty! The shrimp was cooked perfectly and they provided plenty of them. The vegetables were loaded with flavor. There was a good balance between proteins and veggies. I thought it was pricey, but it's Big Bear. It was a large portion of food, so I was able to get two nicely sized meals out of it (reheated well).

The Spanish rice was perfectly cooked (soft but not squishy). It was slightly saltier than other rice I've tried, but it worked well with the the tortillas and vegetables. I'll definitely try this place again.

Burger and onion rings: Super tasty. The meat was very tender and flavorful. Almost tasted like ground steak! Onion rings had a nice, soft batter to them (not the typical kind you'd get from an ihop or NORMS, which is crunchier). It was almost slightly sweet, which tastes awesome with the rest of the saltiness you get.

Service: Can't really say since we had a to-go order. The staff seemed a little lazy at times while we were waiting (it was a slow day). The hostess sort of disappeared to tend to a group that came in after me, so I never got a quote time and was waiting and questioning how long it would take (took about 20min). What a nice little joint. Really pretty view of the lake and a nice semi covered outdoor beautiful wooden patio with large TV for sports viewing. I started with the margarita flight which had mango, lime, blue and pomegranate, and they were all delicious. The mango had a nice spicy rim on it and tasted just like mango. The pomegranate tasted just like pomegranate and had a nice spicy rim as well. The lime tasted just like your Ordinary margarita but still good. The blue had to be my favorite because of the decadent rock, blue sugar rim on it. And it’s so pretty to look at. Looks like the Caribbean ocean.

My waitress brought me out some warm chips that were sturdy and tasty with some nice medium heat salsa. Then I ordered the taco salad which had a beautiful flaky shell that was almost like a Napoleon dessert without the sweets. Inside was some lovely seasoned shredded chicken a bottom layer of refried beans, two large dollops each of sour cream and guacamole and all the other accoutrements that go in a taco salad. Just a lovely visit.
