The customer service here is 5 star, but the hotel owner gets a 1 for not thinking thru the customer experience, thus the 3. The good: -Adorable microwave/fridge kitchen setup -Super comfy bed, strongest frame I’ve ever slept on, soft sheets, hypo allergenic pillows/comforter -Good a/c -Lots of closet/hang up space The bad: -No maid service. Ever. Even upon request. You empty your own trash if it’s overflowing and try to find fresh towels. -No towels available when we looked twice for them. We had already thrown soiled towels on our bathroom floor, and couldn’t shower that night. The ugly: -Lights right over the bed never turn off. The owner is aware of the problem. Bring blindfolds. -We’ve been here 48 hours and the jacuzzi is still cold and we reported it on arrival when we first tried it. -Last night after midnight there was nonstop clumping above our heads for 90 minutes. It sounds like many people were coming and going consistently, with no break. No other noise from them, other than the stomping and chairs moving around, but it meant no sleep for me. Insist on the 3rd floor- but warning you that there’s no elevator and you’re on your own for luggage.

This place is definitely a hidden gem. I was initally hesitant because of the reviews but when we got there it wasn’t what I expected. The room was super spacious, very clean and cute. It came with a single serve keurig, microwave and refrigerator. The bathroom was also a good size and had a lot of space to place anything you needed. There were also shampoo, conditioner and soap provided (in refillable bottles). They are currently still under renovation but during our stay we did not hear a thing. I think our biggest problem was we could hear everyone going up and downstairs because we were in the corner room. The room was also a little dim, there was a himalayan salt lamp by the little island drawer thing but it didn’t do much. It would also be great if they provided a rug inside each room for us to put/dry our shoes after getting in from the snow (we used an old towel, provided by staff). I’m only giving four stars because it definitely has great potential but with some minor tweaks it would be a really great place to stay. I’m definitely going to keep this place under my list of places to stay in Big Bear.

Like the staffs are very nice and friendly. The room we stayed in was so nice. I like how very spacious it was. We had a table to eat. A chair to relax. It has cute light blue microwave, a nice fridge, and coffee maker for coffee lovers. The bed very comfy. The pillows & blankets are soft. It was very comfortable to sleep in. Furniture are new too such as bed tables and chairs. Shower has a good water pressure which I like. It has inside pool. Definitely, staying here again in the future. The location is in walking distance to The Village. The outside and some area inside the building are under construction during our stay (headsup). They are in a process of renovating the building. Noises from upstairs due to kids running. But I understand kids tend to do that. Not a big bothered. It's a thin wall. Hearing noises. Guest next door, which I can hear blasting their TV while I was trying to sleep.

We didn’t expect a 5 star experience because we knew that’s not what we were getting with this hotel. Chose because of convenience to the village and slopes, and it looked cute from photos and reviews. We were traveling with our 12 year old as well so it was more a family trip vs an adult trip where we’d likely have higher standards for our accommodations.

That said, I rated it mostly 2 stars because that is what it is, a high 2/low 3-star motel that has been updated a bit and is nice enough for a quick one night stay in Big bear.

We wouldn’t stay here for longer stays but it did the job.

2 stars for service - their whole thing seems to be self service oriented, so that is why the 2 star rating as that’s the level of service you can expect. There are staff there during biz hours but scarce otherwise. That’s ok that’s just the type of place this is and if that’s your type of place, great. there wasn’t really any front desk service (I called about early check in and someone said they would call back. They never did. I asked them to print out parking pass, they said they would and never did. was not upset or surprised because again - we knew what we were getting into.

2-3 stars for rooms - I gave it a 3 Bc I wanted to give a 2.5. They’re simple but clean and tastefully decorated. The room we picked originally bc we thought we were taking our dog but ended up leaving her at home. It was a rather large/wide room which was nice for the three of us and we didn’t feel cramped at all. TV worked great and was very simple to use (you’d be surprised how challenging this can be). Nice that there was a sofa, fridge coffee maker in the room.

4 stars for location - walkable to all the local spots and short driving distance to slopes.

Some dings: The hot/cold in the shower was marked opposite but the sink was normally what you’d expect.

The heater didn’t seem to work until I figured out that you had to turn the floor unit on in order to activate the old wall unit.

Would have been great to been told by front desk of the social conditions to operate the what and shower, but maybe this is something that is generally known 🤷🏻‍♀️

The bathroom was clean but small. Showers seemed kind of old still, though.

It’s an older hotel - so there is a slight musty odor. And the indoor pool chlorine kind of permeated the entire place. I have sensitive sense of smell, though. So keep that in mind if you also have a sensitive nose!

All in all, we got what we paid for, only stayed one night and it served our needs perfectly well - family short term stay in a new-ish facility and close proximity to the skiing.

I’d recommend for small families doing short term rentals during ski season, or younger folks looking for a cheap nicer...

I searched for several weeks for a hotel in Big Bear to celebrate our anniversary. We are so glad we booked with this hotel. It was clean and newly renovated with adorable retro-modern decor. We got the delux king suite and it was spacious enough for our baby’s pack n play the bathroom was gorgeous and clean.|Which makes or breaks the hotel expertise for me. The lobby was a great place to get some hot cocoa and coffee, play games (retro arcade game machine, shuffle board table, tick tac toe, and cute sitting area where we played monopoly deal), The pool was clean but didn’t have an overpowering chlorine smell that most indoor pools often have. It was stocked with fresh towels and also adorably decorated. The jacuzzi didn’t have the most powerful jets but we still went multiple times because it was so relaxing. The location couldn’t get any better. It was just a short 5min walk to the village and across the street was a delicious Italian food restaurant, Sweet Basil. The girls at the desk, Katheryn and Stephanie were so welcoming and sweet. Anything we needed they were a call or text away. We even had to ship some baby bottles to the hotel last minute and we had no issue getting them. We want to come back with our whole family and book the family suite. This...
