Wow. I canât believe how my fiance and I were just treated at Big Bear Marina. We had a reservation for a fishing boat. In the notes we put that we would be bringing our dog. Dylan goes to check in and the clerk said they donât allow dogs on the fishing boats and there were no other boats available. Then we were scrambling to find a boat to rent before our dinner reservation tonight and of course they are all booked up. It was the one thing we were looking forward to during this trip. We literally have not had any fun today on our mini vacation.
I just tried to call them to see if maybe they could give us a small discount on a pontoon boat for tomorrow (even though that is an inconvenience too since we are heading back home tomorrow) and the staff was extremely unhelpful and rude. They kept saying that it was posted on their website that dogs are not allowed on the fishing boats. We were told it was in the FAQs. Neither one of us could find anything about dogs not being allowed on the fishing boats. The FAQs section only says that they are dog friendly but the dogs are not allowed on the seats. Also, there was nothing in the booking or the email confirmation that states no dogs. Then the lady was talking about stuff that was irrelevant to what we were asking and HUNG UP on us. Maybe itâs because we were using our phones it wasnât listed on there and maybe it is just on the desktop version. But either way, to be treated this way was uncalled for.
I highly recommend staying far away from this place as they ruined our vacation and couldnât care less about their customers. Maybe the staff could be better trained in the future. Empathy goes a long way.
Edit: I couldnât find anything regarding no dogs on the desktop...
Read moreI am visiting Big Bear and brought my own SUP. Found out I needed a permit to get on the lake, or I can rent locally. Big Bear Marina sells permits. I went there, they said they do not have the paperwork but I can wait 2 hours before somebody goes to get them. Looked up and the Water district sells them. Right next door. I went there and the lady who told me 2 minutes ago that is going to take 2 hours, she was walking to the same place as I was. Then I was told the SUP needs to be inspected for mussels. Thomas(inspector) said since there is water drops out of the board, it can not pass, can not be launched. I said ok I understand. As I was driving away I saw in my mirror that Thomas sneakily took a photo of my vehicle from behind a boat. I looped back around to tell him this way he can take a better photo! He said they need my license plate? For what? If they donât give me the permit, what they need my plate for? I told him I am just going to rent at Boulder Bay. He said you can not get on the water! I said I told you I will RENT! It was just very weird the way they handle people. He probably thought I will try to sneak on to the lake. Really bad feeling about these people. By the way I never...
Read morePaid $160 including gas for 2 hours to rent a pontoon boat that can sit 6 people. The boat was a little beat up, and a little dirty from the previous group. The method of operation is to get you into a boat as fast as possible hence their neglect of cleaning the previous occupants mess. They said they will charge you for cleaning fee but we kept our boat clean so we were not charged. there were dents all over the boats and they told us not to worry about the dents and we were not charge fraudulently for those either. So they're pretty trustworthy. They also inspected the screws (propeller) that power the boat and have you take a look at before you take the boat out. this is pretty honest as how would you know if there was previous damage without looking at it so these guys are pretty honest. the gas gauge to not work and the speedometer was off by 10 miles per hour. A throttle only react it at the very end of their travel so the throttle is very touchy. Even though there's plenty of room for six people it can fit up to eight or nine maybe even 10 people. 6 people could fit comfortably underneath the canopy and pretty much stay...
