Teddy Bear Restaurant — Restaurant in Big Bear Lake

Update 8/4/22 We haven't been here in a long time as we normally come up to Big Bear during peak hours and it is packed. It wasn't bad here this morning and we walked right in. Our food was just as awesome as I remember it being. I had the chicken fried steak burger and it was just ridiculously amazing. It had a chicken fried steak on it topped with a cheeseburger topped with an over medium egg and 2 strips of bacon. It was enormous and I almost couldn't finish it. The service was on point. I think the only downfall to the place is how small it is. You can hear every person in the place and we had this super big mouthed lady sitting right behind us who thought she was talking to everyone in the place including the kitchen. Not the restaurants fault but super annoying. Anyhow, will be back here again for sure.

First review: Teddy Bear Restaurant was awesome. I saw some people saying the chicken fried steak was just a breaded hamburger. Not sure what they are talking about. It is a legit cube steak and the breading was amazing. Definitely freshly made. The fresh bread they use for toast is awesome. Only problem was the sourdough crust was extremely hard. Everyone else's was fine. It was really busy here, but it was a Sunday morning in a resort town so that's to be expected. We were here early so we got lucky but about 0830 there were dozens of people waiting to come in. Wife had the farmers breakfast, kids had waflles/bacon and cinnamon roll french toast/sausage, and I had the chicken fried steak. Everyone was happy and full. Our server Rein was awesome. He was super friendly and prompt on requests and he was pretty busy too but this guy knows what he's doing. Even gave me a to go cup for some more iced tea on the way out. 5 star service for sure! Where do I start, fake reviews cough fake reviews cough

If you’re looking through the reviews because of the 4+ starts I’m sorry to disappoint you. In the very least if it’s about the food that is a complete lie. Best was I can describe this food would be if you took toy food and made a wish on it to be real. You know when kids have those fake kitchens with the plastic toy food? Imagine that but warm.

Oh the service 😂😂 how about trying to be kind and respectful to servers that just blow you off and look at you in disgust asking for something as basic as napkins, or crackers with your chili (if chili is what you want to call it)

And the icing on the cake? CASH ONLY, to further enforce the the overall scam they are cash only (wonder why) and in my experience after terrible service and food, I’d like to be decisive about the tip. But of course the server wants to put themselves in a position to steal from me 3x a tip amount by just not collecting my check with the money for change and instead eying me to wait when I leave so they don’t have to provide change. Smart scam. So I go to the register with host where I assume I would get change. Nope! They work together to pretend they don’t know how to get the system to work until you’re so stressed you just say forget it and walk out letting them scam you out of double the money.

There’s so many cute nice places in big bear with great food and service. This place doesn’t make the tier on anything other than being in a pretty good location. Who cares, there’s a bunch of other great places in the same location with great food and...

This was one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. Every other restaurant was closed and this restaurant looks like it was open so I took a chance. And it was the best chance I have Ever taken. Jordan was the nicest human being I’ve ever met . She was so quick to help me with exactly what I wanted to get. I felt so bad because I was walking in while they were closing but with the way, Jordan was so accommodating, you would’ve thought that they were just opening. Jordan was seriously the most, nice and welcoming person I have ever met in a restaurant. Even though they Looked and were closing, Jordan insisted I get exactly what I want. I even said whatever scraps they had from the kitchen, they could give me an I would be happy with, but Jordan was very persistent on me ordering what I wanted so that I would be happy. While I was waiting for my food, she even asked me if I would like something to drink. I sincerely think that people like Jordan are what keep restaurants alive and what keep people coming back to restaurants. Solely because of Jordan‘s accommodation I will be coming back to the restaurant. Not to mention their food was absolutely amazing. Some of the best wings and sliders that I have ever had.
