Let me start by saying I enjoy the products World Market has but the service I recently received was kinda shoddy. On November 27th I had placed an order for two chairs which are special order chairs which my wife really liked. I was told I needed to place a 10% deposit which will then be applied to the final payment at time of pick up in order for them to place the order. They said the chairs would take about two weeks for them to be delivered which was not a problem, and I left happy.
Flash forward to December 23rd I call asking if they are in, and I am told they are in (so much for getting a call), and I could come in and pick them up. My wife and I go to pick them up after work, and during the check out the shift manager asks me if I have my receipt to show that I had paid the 10% deposit. I told him I was not told to keep the receipt (I honestly can't remember as it was 3 weeks ago but believe I would have if told). He said they would not be able to apply the 10% I had already paid because there was no proof I had in fact paid. I asked if it was company policy to take a 10% deposit on special orders which he said there was, but because their employees don't always enforce it he couldn't apply it so I am now being charged because their employees don't follow policy all the time. Personally if they are not following policy that is a managerial issue.
I can't believe that their system is so inadequate they can't even keep track of people making deposits on orders. I work at a hotel and it is our responsibility to keep track of guest payments especially if they make an advance deposit on a room. We don't ask them to show a receipt that they paid because we should/do have it in our system. The kicker to this is the shift manager made the comment of "if it were me I would have kept onto the receipt" (really? wow thanks for being a douche as you can see I am already not overly happy) and something along the line of "you are lucky we even kept this piece of paper showing we are to honor the 25% discount" (almost lost my composure on that one).
Needless to say if you have to order any furniture or special merchandise you would be better served to...
Read moreI am so glad that we have a Cost Plus World Market in this severely lacking in shops and restaurant town. For one because it's a place to go, for another, I lived in Germany as a military brat and got the chance to travel while there, so it's fun to go to Cost Plus and see things, particularly food items, that remind me of my time overseas. I also love to explore the other foods from places I've not been. There's always something interesting or intriguing. I'm not really much into home decor, so rarely look at that kind of stuff, but I'm not oblivious to it either and have occasionally seen some cool stuff. I also really like their kitchen ware area, where they have things from other countries that you don't often see. About the only complaint I have about CPWM is there prices on most things are too high. I would shop there much more often if they would lower them some. I realize that most, if not all of their products are imported, but I still don't think their regular prices are on point, with many, if not most items being at least 1 dollar more and increasing exponentially with item size and cost. So a bag of candy let's say is 1 dollar or so more than it should be, a couch is 100 dollars or more than it should be. Otherwise, even if they are a bit spendy, it's still a fun place to go browse if you've got a little time to kill or if you are looking for some exotic spice, or just something to change up meal time or add that funky...
Read moreNot much seemed very reasonably priced however I was excited that they carried so many sugar-free Torani coffee/drink flavorings and bought several I haven't seen elsewhere. My main complaint was that Vivian shorted us on change. She counted it like three times and assured us it was correct but after we left, we determined that she was overriding the computer and definitely wasn't correct! But it wasn't worth going back and it seems likely that her cash drawer might often NOT balance. Worth looking and there were a few deeply discounted items but you can probably find better deals with free shipping online. Fun...
