I was in need of a hair cut after not cutting it over a year (I was growing out a pixie cut), so I decided to give this salon a try (a friend recommended I go in with Samantha, but she was not available) I called to see if they had any openings and was scheduled with the hair stylist Courtney, who I was told is also the manager of the salon. I mean I thought I would be in good hands knowing I was with the manager. I was WRONG.
When I first arrived she was not ready for me, and I was told to look around the store, which was totally fine. After 15 minutes of waiting she was finally ready. I sat down in the chair and I explained to her that I was not looking to take off any major length, since I was trying to grow it out, and I just wanted her to trim my split ends and touch-up my layers. She convinced me to get a deep conditioner that would only be left in for 8 minutes (I thought deep conditioner treatments were meant to stay in longer), I gave in because I knew my hair needed it anyway. After getting the treatment she started cutting away. The promotion for that week was $30 hair cut and style for new customers, after she finished cutting it, all she did was blow dry my hair (it wasn't even fully dried), I mean I thought styling was at least making it look nice? An employee came to the chair telling her that the manager from the Ulta salon in Naperville was on the phone. She went to go answer it and I over heard that someone was in the Naperville salon complaining about services that they had gotten by Courtney the day before. She then gave me a paper that had a barcode and the total, it read $51. I didn't understand where the extra 3 dollars were coming from since the haircut was supposed to be $30 and the treatment $18. I figured it was just the taxes.
I realized once I got to my car that she didn't texturize it or thin it out (my hair is very thick). I had a final within the hour, so after class I went back for her to fix it. I should of never went back to her! She cut WAY too much off the front. I honestly don't know what she did. It was a nightmare. I noticed it when I got home and I didn't know what to do. The next day I went back to report this and speak to a manager. I went in and approached the manager that was at the register. I showed her my cut and I got a weird look from her, she asked who had cut my hair and said hold on. The next thing I see is the manager and Courtney walking my way. Courtney asked what was wrong and basically told me that she did see where she could "texturize" it more. WHAT?! Texturize it more?! We went back to her station and all she did was deny, deny, deny. She then went on to blame the condition of my hair? I know what damaged hair looks like, and my hair is not damaged. Yes the ends where dry and split, but that does not mean you have to give me a haircut from hell. Not only did she not own up to it, I was getting the dirtiest looks from her co-workers.
After trying to explain to her that she had ruined my hair, and almost crying she went to get the "manager" and gave me the option for a refund, and then went on to tell me that she understood but then tried to explain that it wasn't "That bad." What not that bad? I took the refund and ran out of there! I couldn't believe it. I went to another stylist right after and she explained to me that she indeed did mess up badly. She also told me that she probably wasn't paying attention to what she was cutting because it was a poor cut. The stylist was thankfully able to fix it without taking too much more length off.
Do not let Courtney touch your hair, it was a nightmare. This Ulta will never get a penny from me, I'd rather waste the gas driving to Naperville then support this...
Read moreAfter today, I will never shop at Ulta again. Now I spend lots of money at this store. Today I place an online order and go to pick it up. When I go to the pick up counter there is another women there, she tell the associate her name and she gets her order. The lady is trying to show her ID, however the associate Hayle says no no need your okay. She leaves. I present my phone with the order and she say you need your ID, okay no problem however the lady in front of me never presents either an order number or ID I say to her. That makes her mad and she says with stricter voice that is our store policy, no problem. I ask her to please have her manager there when I get back. I come back with my ID and the manger comes up to me without any form of greeting and just starts belting out the store policy for Id. Again no problem here is is, by this point she does not even want to see it anymore just wants to be ignorantly at this point. I basically say to her things racial discrimination, that pisses her off and she starts to tell me I can not say that. And donât say it again. I explain to her I can say what I want, she the. Turns to the associate and say isnât your boyfriend black and they start to chuckle, like I just gave you a validation to get her to stop saying your racist. The then she decides to call security on me and never come back to tell security what happened. Then another operation manager comes to tell the story when she was never present to what happened. This is unacceptable behavior and these employees need to not be allowed to treat customers like this. I would like to say thank you Monica -manager and Hayle -Associate and operation manager-Diana thank you for letting me see how Ulta really treats their black customers. Shame on you and I will never spend another penny in Ulta. All of this for a $35 purse...
Read moreI came in to this Ulta a few times to get my brows done. I could only get appointments with Ashley. I cannot even begin to describe how unprofessional she was. The first time I went there, I got there while she was on her lunch break, so I thought it wasn't a big deal. When she came in, she asked me to sit down while she finished her lunch. No big deal, right? She came back, asked me to sit at a different station, then disappeared again for another 20 minutes. Came back asked me to switch stations again, then finally started working on my brows. I asked her to make them thinner than what they were and make more of a curve. she refused saying it wouldn't fit my face. I figured she knew what she was talking about since she has a license and everything, so I let her do what she felt was appropriate. Guess what? I was sitting there for an hour letting her wax my brows and when she finished, they looked exactly the same! What she was waxing for that hour, I don't know. I thought she might have been having an off day so i didnt get mad. So I went to a different place to get them done how I wanted. I came in again the next month (Its the closest one to my house) and she did the exact same thing. Made me wait another half hour at the station, moved me, disappeared again, for 20 minutes Didn't do my brows right. So I decided not to get my brows done there anymore. Maybe I'm missing something, but at other Ultas, I'm seated at the Brow bar right away, and they begin working right away, and DO MY BROWS HOW I WANT.
TL;DR Ashley at the Brow bar is incredibly...
