Pizza was good. I've been here a couple of times but what stands out more and more isn't the pizza, but the people behind the counter. Most of them are very nice and I hope they keep being awesome!
One of them is not.
One of them talks on their phone (very loudly. Maybe the acoustics aren't great and facilitate the echoing of their lazy, surfer-dude kind of voice or maybe he's just a loud talker?) about personal business right in front of customers. While their coworker is busting their butts trying to, y'know, do their jobs?
One of them stands and fills cups of sauce, staring at customers who awkwardly look around wondering if they're going to get rung up at some point. Which is astounding because they're the only person who uses the register every time I've been there, and will angrily flag his other coworkers away from the register if they attempt to facilitate the process. As they awkwardly (and loudly) squirt sauce rather than service customers who want to give their business money, their coworker is up front, at the counter, busting their hump trying to get everything done.
When his coworker sees that they're about to get slammed as another party walks in behind us, she starts to flatten more pizza dough but can't get it quite right, apologizing to us the whole time. We reassure her that it's not a big deal and that it's a Monday, and these things happen. This person walks over, clearly frustrated, and says "Here, I'm the one who flattens the dough right now". In front of customers.
One of them, while seeing one of their coworkers go to the bathroom on their shift (an unforgivable sin if there ever was one), loudly asks if they told someone that they were going to the bathroom. In front of customers. How much more embarrassing can you be?
I get it. Retail is hard. Retail food service is harder. But common human decency is not difficult. Further proof that some people just should not be in management roles.
tl;dr - Food is good. Most people that work there are fantastic and I hope they keep being fantastic....
Read moreFirst the good. Pizza dough definitely has real Italian 00 flour in the mix. Its texture and appearance feels very similar to what you might find at a high end Italian Bistro. The bad.
Salad, we ordered two Cesar salads and found they used way too much preservative (usually a powder added to chilled water in a large cleaned sink that the lettuce is bathed in) that made it taste worse then that awful precut and bagged lettuce from the grocery store. Employees were very, very nice but on an online order they were very skimpy on toppings (won’t do that again). On our third try, I ordered a double crust (twice as thick) it was only half cooked. On our 4th try (myself at the order counter) I noticed that most of the salami was brown except for what they added on top. It looked like it had gone sour and I’m puzzled as to why they just added fresh on top and didn’t remove the brown. I’d be careful but overall it’s extremely good pizza.
I included 3 pictures of the uncut pizzas to go we ordered and reheated...
Read moreGreat Experience at MOD Pizza! Wife and I stopped in for a quick bite and were thoroughly impressed. With a bunch of dietary and allergy restrictions, we thought it best to check it out first before bringing the kids. We can't wait to bring them here!
Think of MOD Pizza as a sort of Chipotle style of ordering. You pay for the pizza crust and can throw just about anything you want on it. Ingredients on our visit were fresh and tasted great. Wide variety of options, including dairy free, gluten free, and other allergy friendly options. There are options for different base sauces, your various meat and veggies to go on top, a selection of cheeses, and even finishing sauces. I opted not to go too crazy so I could TASTE the pizza and ingredients. Next time, I imagine I'll go a bit off the norm.
Again, impressed with the food, variety, and attention to nutrition and allergies. To top off our visit, they had a few craft beers which made the trip...
