Walter Bauman Jewelers — Attraction in Boonton

I cannot recommend this store more highly. Their customer service is beyond exceptional. It's very spacious and calm inside the store, without any high-pressure sales going on. You can browse the displays as you wish, and there's a great selection of jewelry on display---from the very traditional to the more contemporary, plus estate pieces.

Awhile ago I bought a Tissot watch without thinking about what the maintenance on a more expensive watch would cost me over the years. Well, living in Boston, there are plenty of jewelers who charge outlandish sums to replace the batteries and to order you genuine Tissot replacement watch straps. I paid a couple hundred dollars once for a new battery and watch strap. That was the one and only time.

My parents live in Boonton so, on my next visit to them, I stopped by Baumann's and had my battery replaced for something like 6 bucks. I also bought a lovely sterling silver & diamond necklace at a great price. The whole transaction was easy and relaxed.

This past week I came down to visit and needed both the battery and watch strap replaced. Russell is amazing and works incredibly fast. He replaced the battery in no time flat. I said I didn't need a "genuine Tissot" watch strap, so he picked out a normal one with the same leather pattern. My watch was ready the next day and it looks as good as new. The total was something like 27 bucks. Russell was able to make the special cut-outs in the leather to correspond to the Tissot profile, and he attached the metal safety clasp perfectly. He really knows his stuff, and he didn't seem bothered in the least by my going with a much less expensive watch band. Talk about exceptional customer...

Went in looking for a bracelet for our daughter, and Russell was great. Listening to what we were looking for and then showing us items that matched what we asked for. There were a couple of items that they has at their West Orange store that he said he could have brought over for the next day. We asked if it would be OK if we went direct since we did not want him to miss out on credit for a potential sale and he confirmed it would not be a problem.

We were able to take the quick trip to the other location and told them what Russell showed us as being available and were able to complete our purchase.

This is the level of customer service that most retail shops no longer have, it was very welcome to get treated like our business is important for them to earn and will be sure to share the pleasant experience with...

I have been doing business with Walter Bauman’s since they opened up their Boonton store. I have had excellent experience on repairs. I have also sold gold and silver to them and their payouts are the highest around.

Most recently I had three small diamond rings made into a pendant which turned out beautiful. Russell took the time to listen to me and created a custom piece. They even sent me a picture of the mold they created for the pendant. The pendant turned out better than I had imagined. It is now one of my favorite pieces. In addition I turned in some old gold (like those single earrings when you lose one) so the cost of this piece with necklace was inexpensive.
