The Boston Symphony Orchestra is one of the best in the world. I've been a subscriber and have purchased single tickets. The BSO has free events like BSO 101 and tours. I've sat in the narrow jump seats on the second balcony, in the back of the orchestra, front row seats, prime orchestra seats, and everywhere in between. While every seat is a good seat acoustically, they're not all equal. First balcony left, first row, close to the stage is my favorite spot because there are no obstructions like heads and the stage can be easily seen no matter your height. Acoustically, these seats in the first balcony or the center to left orchestra, around row H through K are my preference. One year, Anne Sophie Mutter was the performer on the first day of the season and performed with her back to the audience, facing her fellow performers. I was sitting towards the front, to the right. Couldn't see her at all, except when she came or left the stage. There's definitely some type of Blindspot to the right. Whether it's strings, piano, or choral, the BSO gives great concerts. I do prefer the more classical works like Beethoven, Mozart, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeautiful hall with great acoustics and a fantastic performance by the Handel & Haydn Orchestra with special guest, Tanguy de Williencourt, on the fortepiano! I hadnāt been to the BSO since grad school when I had that BSO student card (btw I highly recommend getting it if youāre a student - itās absolutely worth it), so it was really nice to be back again and to bring my partner to experience his first orchestra performance ever. He didnāt have high expectations going in, but found himself greatly enjoying the concert and being so impressed with the talented musicians and conductor. Now he wants to attend more performances at the BSO which makes me very happy! During the intermission, we went upstairs to see the view from the balcony and it did not disappoint. Getting into the venue was fast and easy - the staff are kind and very helpful. Womenās bathroom lines were not too bad and itās even faster if you go upstairs. We rode blue bikes to the BSO, but thereās a T stop just in front and there are some parking garages nearby if...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had the chance to attend an event at Boston Symphony Hall, and it was a great experience. The evening began with talks about Haydn and Bethoven that helped the audience understand more about the composers and their works. This made the performance even more meaningful.
That night, I had the pleasure of listening to Mass in C Major, Op. 86 by Beethoven. The conductor and orchestra delivered a stunning performance, bringing out the depth and emotion of the piece. The choir added a powerful and moving element, making the music even more captivating.
The acoustics of the hall were exceptional, allowing every note to resonate beautifully. It was truly a special experience to hear such a masterpiece performed live in such a magnificent setting. I would highly recommend visiting Boston Symphony Hall to anyone who loves classical music.
