Even though I had a bad experience at Town Nails before, I decided to give it another chance and I officially will not be coming back again. I never leave reviews but I am so upset and want to warn other people about coming here. I came in for an acrylic full set with french tip and sparkle design. At first it was going well and I had hope that I would love the finished results. However, that all changed after my nail tech finished her acrylic application. When she laid the acrylic powder on my nails, there would be so much excess on the underside of the nail tips so she used a cuticle pusher to take off the excess. This left dried acrylic on all my fingertips that I couldn’t remove until I got home and had to use a nail file on my skin to get it off. After, she began to file the top of my nails using a nail filer and she filed into my cuticles to the point where I was bleeding from multiple fingers. It was so painful and I just don’t understand why she was filing my cuticles. It makes no sense to use a file because the file is rectangle shaped and there is no way you can cut down customer’s cuticles precisely without hurting them. To make it worse, she began using actual cuticle cutters on me and did a sloppy job. They were uneven, and she cut some cuticles but left some. I have never had a salon cut me before, and my cuticles have never looked this bad after getting my nails done. When it came to the design, I wanted french tip with different colors on each finger. I appreciate her accommodating my request because I know it is annoying that I chose 5 colors. It didn’t come out perfect but at this point, I knew there was a limit on how much she can do. From afar, they don’t look too bad but up close, you can see many imperfections. Some sides of the nail are lacking polish and some the french tip is patchy and see through. I also wanted a sparkle design on each nail but halfway through the design she began putting top coat and cuticle oil on me and I was very confused why she stopped without finishing. In my reference photo, there’s clearly sparkles on all nails but she only did them on 2 fingers each hand. She didn’t say anything, she just stopped the design. And I didn’t say anything for multiple reasons. First, she was struggling with the sparkles and kept having to wipe them off and redo it over and over. They didn’t come out like the picture at all. I felt bad honestly so I didn’t even want them anymore. Second, I was uncomfortable and in so much pain from her filing my cuticles so I just wanted to leave. It had been 3 hours since she started and her doing the sparkles on the rest of my nails would have taken even longer. I personally thought the design was simple and I don’t think it should have taken 3 hours. The fact that this salon is on Newbury St. is appalling to me. I expected my nails to come out better considering I was charged $90 (not including tip). My nails are not even completely finished even though I was there for 3 hours. I don’t think this salon deserves to be on Newbury St. as the prices are not justified by the work. It’s way too expensive for the nails and service I received.

I have been going to this salon for four years now. I moved to Boston from New York City and tried,, for months and in vain, to find a nail tech that could, and would meet my high expectations. I am a Retired Marine. I tell you this so that you will know that I have very high standards and an exceptional level of attention to detail. I now work as a flight attendant. My nails need to look polished and professional on the daily. More importantly, my nails need to be VERY. resilient. They. take a lot of abuse during the multiple flights I work every week. When I moved to Boston more than four years ago,I had a hard time finding a nail tech who could meet my expectations.. After trying three different salons (one Of which was MUCH more expensive), I was blessed to find Jenny at Town Nails. Happily, jenny’s talent not only met, but exceeded every expectation of mine. I can honestly say that she is the best Nail Tech that I have ever found. I am a perfectionist and can be a “pain in the butt,” when it comes to ensuring that my manicure is done just the way I like it. I’m not rude about it, but I will ensure that my manicure is done the way that I like it. Jenny has amazing attention to detail, and listens to my concerns and works with me to give me EXACTLY what I want every time. She is a good listener, as well as being very patient and kind. I can’t say enough, good things about her talent and results. If you want an Absolutely beautiful and incredibly resilient manicure… ESPECIALLY French… See Jenny at Town Nails. Trust me, you will be so happy with the results. You can thank me later. 🥰🙏 Note: the pictures that I have attached are of nails that are almost 3 weeks old. Jenny And I called the look I get “big white, double white.” I get an extra large white rim on my nails. I file down the white portion of the nail between appointments. That keeps my nails at a good working length, and allows the French manicure to look in amazing for the entire four weeks between manicures..

I almost never leave review but I also have never been so disappointed and dissatisfied with my service at any establishment. My pedicure was rushed. Maybe 10 minutes max. No massage, barely any oils or lotions used. My entire pinky toe isn’t even painted! My massage chair didn’t work and I only know because I had to try myself to use it, even though I saw other patrons have their chair turned on for them. Other patrons were offered water, not me. They tried to up charge my pedicure by offering the illegal “cheese grater” and were shocked when I said no. It’s illegal, I have close friends who are licensed nail techs so I am educated on the damage those do to the feet. I saw other patrons have their coats and bags carried to their seat as they got ready for the manicure, I had to carry everything myself. With the manicure, my nails were not cut to be even, just filed unevenly, and over filed at that. She removed way too much of my cuticle, which is damaging and unhealthy, and cut skin on my fingers in the process. The polish was applied without care, I had to peel gel off my skin as I waited for my friend to get her nails finished and noticed that there were spots that weren’t fully painted and the topcoat doesn’t cover the full nail. I’m not sure if we looked like we didn’t belong or couldn’t afford the service, but I went in with the intention of doing an upgraded pedicure and gel extensions. After my poorly done pedicure, I stayed and got a regular gel manicure. I should have left. The service and work were not worth the cost, even though I went there with the intention to spend more.

Worst of the worst nail experience I've had in my life. The first nail technician that was in charge of doing my nail extensions was not only terrible at doing his job, but he was also extremely rude. He failed to coat the manicure evenly, which caused my extensions to look bumpy and patchy. He failed to do the french tips but then would get mad at me for his inability to do it right. I went to this place with a reference photo for the nail design (fairly simple glitter shapes), and he couldn't even draw the design on my nails because of his lack of skills. He kept yelling and I had to change my design to small hearts instead, but this also caused trouble as he couldn't draw the simple hearts with his skills. What threw me off was how he started flicking my hand to instruct me to put my hand under the LED lamp after coating my nails. I believe that as a serviceman, such an act of flicking a customer's hand instead of speaking nicely to them reflects that he was poorly trained. When he told me that he was finished with my nails, I took a look and realized that the edges of all my nails had bumps and scratches because it was not painted evenly at all. Since my nails cost almost 100 dollars, I went up to another nail technician and asked politely if she could retouch my nails. She seemed reluctant and told me to "calm down" when I was already very calm. I tried to ignore her attitude and she started refining the edges. As I was checking if the nails were getting fixed, the nail technician condescendingly told me "You REALLY look at your nails". I got quite upset with the way the technicians were putting up with me. The very last nail place I went right across from Towns nail had significantly better customer service and almost twice as less expensive pricing for what I requested (extensions with designs). I just want to raise awareness that Town nails is certainly NOT the place you should go if you want friendly service and get the nails that you want. Nothing about this place was good, literally absolutely nothing. Please read this review and reexamine your business if you truly care about...

STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY!

It is with great disappointment that I have to write this review. I am not one to write bad reviews, but this has to be done. I had an extremely terrible experience with their customer service, and I would advise everyone to stay far, far away from this place.

I initially had my gel nail set done by a bald male nail technician named Kevin, but I had to return later that day as my nails began chipping. Two days later, I had to go back again due to peeling and bumpy nails. Throughout the entire ordeal, I was nothing but polite and respectful to the staff, but unfortunately, they were very rude and disrespectful towards me.

The nail technician, Christina, who redid my nails, refused to answer my questions, and her colleagues continued to IGNORE and DISRESPECT ME. They even talked about me so much that another technician, Tweety, had to intervene and ask them to stop. Despite my repeated attempts to get their attention and ask for names, help, and confirmation, they continued to ignore me.

I was shocked that some of the staff, including Venne, who spoke English fluently, chose to ignore me, so it was clear that language was not a barrier. The technicians' behavior was disgusting, and their service was unacceptable. I would NEVER return to this salon and would NEVER recommend it to anyone.

During my visit, I had to repeat myself so many times that another customer who witnessed the situation was also appalled. I urge the owner of this nail salon to provide extensive customer service training or consider hiring new staff altogether. Overall, I was extremely DISSATISFIED with my experience and would advise others to AVOID THIS SALON AT ALL COST. For reference for the owner, I originally got my nails done 3/10 at 2pm and came back 3/12 to get two of them re-done.

PS: please take the names given with a grain of salt, not sure if they were being honest when they were given to me.

PSS: Kimberly was super sweet and gave me an absolutely...
