Took a peek in the store. The place looked deserted. Was told to wait outside with 2 other ladies who were waiting to get in. I had my 1 year old in a kid-carry backpack. The employee came to the door and said he could let three people in. I followed the two ladies and began to walk in. The guitar center employee put his hand out and said sorry not the little one, referring to my one year old, who had a pacifier and face was well covered. I replied to him and said you're joking right? He says no sir I'm not, CDC guidelines. We have to limit the amount of people allowed in our store. I said well that's strange because when you guys were sort of busy last week I was greeted, allowed in immediately, and was offered a mask and given hand sanitizer at the door. So you're telling me that with your store looking almost dead you can't let me and my son in, because you're at capacity? I asked him if that's the case where are the three people that were supposed to have left? There was literally one person visible when I peeked in. I went there planning on spending $400 on a drum machine they had in stock. Ask him how long it have to wait. He said I'm not sure. Walked away in disgust. More than happy to place an order with Sweetwater or zZounds or American musical going forward. I will be very surprised if guitar center is around in another year if they continue to operate like...
Read moreI showed up to buy a replacement for my Boss Katana 100w and the Fulltone OCD on my pedalboard. I'm a gigging musician and looking to refine my tone a bit. I was asked to turn down which is fine of course (I thought I was being respectful running through a clean channel on less than 1/8 volume and not playing stairway or bad noodling). I realized that when I turned down further I couldn't quite assess the tone like I wanted to and didn't see headphones available for use. I asked respectfully if there were any practice rooms I could use where I wouldn't be bothering anyone and the gentleman behind the desk seemed annoyed and pointed to a room but said there's no soundproofing.
I don't mind being asked to be quiet and I apologize if I was being a bother. But I drove well over an hour to try gear with my guitar and pedal setup and actually buy well over a thousand worth of gear. I tried finding solutions where I wouldn't be a bother to anybody. Instead I ended up packing all of my gear back up and driving home without the opportunity to check anything. I understand wanting everyone to feel at home and not wanting to have your ears blown out but I was playing non overdriven stuff and made it clear I was ready to make a purchase that day. All in all, I spent over two hours on the road to feel insulted and turned away....

It was our first time visiting this guitar center, and at the very least I was greeted nicely. Went in looking for a cheap used dj controller to have fun with nothing too serious.
Finding help was a challenge, it seemed a little busy. One worker did say he would help us once he was finished with another customer so we decided to wait patiently since it wasn't anything too pressing anyway.
Another employee walks by in the middle of helping someone else and asks if he can help us with anything, and I told him that I could use some help with some questions on the used dj controllers, he decides to help us on his way. As soon as I started to ask questions he sighs and you could see his face was immediately irritated and getting inpatient with me. Instead of helping answer my questions on the used equipment he just drags us over to the brand new equipment and tells us to buy one of those instead and walks off.
We immediately walked out after because it just left a bad taste in my mouth. We would have waited to be helped by someone willing if it meant avoiding that kind of treatment by someone in a rush who doesn't want to help. At least find someone who can help if you don't want to.
Walked in excited to get some cool stuff, walked out empty handed and disappointed with the...
