   Read moreSo I went to sign up for their personal training, big mistake. First the sales guy was super pushy, high pressure sales at its finest. they make u sign a 12 month contract, no month to month or anything. And I got the cheapest which was 4, 30 minute sessions a month for $160.
I asked multiple times to make sure that there were trainers for my availability and he reassured me there was. Well the next day I did as he advised and downloaded the app to schedule my sessions but there was no availability with trainers for the time I asked for another two weeks at least. So he offered to train me for my first couple sessions and was late both times. When scheduling our second session he asked me what time and I said 730/8 but I prefer earlier because I have to be out the gym by 850 at the latest and he chose 8, and was a few minutes late. When I brought it up he said I should have been more stern with him if I really wanted to go earlier. I shouldnt have to be pushy.
I have to get in the best shape of my life in 14 months for a competition I can't have my time wasted. there is an Ohio law (prepaid entertainment contracts act) that states you have 72 hours to void your contract. This law was put in place solely because sales men are so pushy. I had a feeling in my stomach that this was a bad mistake. I felt kinda lied to (about the availability) and that they don't take it that seriously (late twice). While within my 72 hours I tried to cancel but he wouldn't.
I am putting a block on LA fitness from my bank and calling corporate once I get a chance to get rid of this contract, or at least gonna try too. This is what I get for supporting a chain. I Checked out old school iron gym on west 140th today and loved it the minute I walked in. It's a real gym and super friendly people. The lady who gave me the tour didn't try to sell me anything, not even a membership. I told her I'd be by in the morning to workout and she didn't take any money from me or have me sign anything she was just like cool gotcha see ya then. And they have a ton of equipment a lot of stuff I've never even seen before. Excited to make the switch.
Lesson learned: stay away from chains and don't let sales people...

âI had a bad and unsafe experience at LA Fitness Kids Club (5000 Tiedeman Rd, Brooklyn, OH 44144).
I left my two-year-old son there for the first time. Before leaving, I clearly explained to the staff that if my son cried or anything happened, they were to call me immediately. I told them this was his first experience, and if he cried and did not find me, he would have a severe tantrum, panic, and be very scared. They reassured me, saying, âYes, we will call you as soon as anything happens or he cries. Donât worry.â
But just ten minutes later, I went back to check on him and found my son standing in front of one of the girls, crying and sobbing profusely. He was looking at her for help or to call me, but she didnât turn around or pay any attention to him. She was just sitting on her phone, while the other girl sat nearby, ignoring him. My son was in a severe crying fit, and he never cries on his own unless something bad happens or he is really hurt. Yet no one contacted me or tried to comfort him.
Even worse, when I picked him up, I noticed bruises, red marks, and what looked like a bump on his body. I have no explanation for the source of these bruises, and no one responded. When I spoke to the manager, his reaction was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. Instead of showing concern, he dismissed my complaint, claimed he trusted his staff, and refused to take any action. He even told me, âMaybe the bruises are caused by something else.â He offered to cancel my membership and told me to complain to customer service if I liked, as if he didnât care at all. When I asked to review the cameras to determine the cause of my sonâs injury, he told me they donât have cameras in the kidsâ club and implied I wouldnât be able to prove what happened.
This is unacceptable neglect. The staff showed no concern for my childâs safety or mental well-being, and the manager showed no respect for me as a parent.
Parents: Please be very careful before leaving your children here. This place is unsafe and untrustworthy...
