Blatant disrespect, rude behavior, and horrible treatment. These things were not something I was expecting from a thrift store with a good cause. The customer treatment is very terrible. I felt hostility from both workers that chose to reprimand me for things that I evidently was not even doing. The dressing rooms were closed, so the only choice was to try things on in the store, so I decided to go to a more secluded area in the back to not get in the way of other customers. A female employee came up to me and started yelling at me for a stereotype associated with “girls like me leaving clothes in a mess”. I was clearly neatly putting every item back into my cart, there was nothing out of place, and the way she snapped at me and approached me with a rude and angry tone right away suggested that she simply wanted to take her anger out on me. I don’t understand what I could’ve possibly done to cause that kind of reaction, and it was completely uncalled for. Almost immediately after that, a man who was looking at things in the area behind me without any issues for 20 minutes suddenly snapped at me, and in a very aggressive tone told me that I’m in the way of other people and that I need to move. There were no customers that were in the area for the whole time that I was there, and I don’t see why, if it were an actual issue, he didn’t tell me from the start. He added that he was a “supervisor”, as if that gave him the right to give me this sort of treatment and disrespect. The most appalling part of this experience were his comments about me, specifically “Don’t give me that attitude”. Since I was approached with hostility and rudeness, I tried to remain calm and respond politely in order to reach a common ground, and was simply justifying my choices. Again, this comment was absolutely not necessary, and a complete stranger has no right to dictate my behavior or comment on it, especially considering that I was being polite and only assertively responding to the disrespect. I did absolutely nothing wrong. The employees in both of these situations could have given me a simple, polite comment to “remember to put clothes back” or to “please move”, but in both situations there was an anger-driven approach that left me very disappointed and upset. The company higher-ups should not ignore this issue, especially since I am not the only one facing these issues, and customers should not be treated this way in any situation. I did not deserve this sort...
Read moreWhat happened to my favorite thrift store?? Prior to the shutdown, this was my go to place for really cool finds at great prices. You had to develop an eye to find them, but that was part of the fun. And the staff was great; friendly, they’d gotten to know all the regulars, and they knew what items were worth. If something ended up being priced wrong for what it was, the manager would always take a look and offer you a fair price. Usually it wasn’t necessary because the prices were reasonable, and if they were a bit high on some things, you could wait and see if the item was still there when the price tag color was 50% off.
Ever since reopening, the place has fallen apart. All familiar faces are gone. I’m not sure if they found new jobs in the interim or were not rehired, but the store has been very affected by their absence. I don’t know what’s happening with the donations, but the parking lot is constantly full of multiple giant boxes of donations. I’ve seen them when I drop off my own, and there appear to be very nice items donated. But inside? Almost nothing! In 3 weeks, every time I visit, the shelves are half empty with almost nothing of any value. The stock barely changes, and there are never carts of new merchandise being brought in from the back. People have been donating like crazy since the shutdown, cleaning out their houses and dropping bags and bags off daily...but where is it all? Not on the shelves, that’s for sure. Where is it all going?
What IS there, is ridiculously priced. Old, used, damaged items near or even at retail price. Some things have even had the original price tags still on, and Goodwill has priced them HIGHER than they were brand new. Scratched, flaking and dirty cheap Teflon pans (which shouldn’t even be resold, those are dangerous to cook in) for $8 - 10, when brand new they were probably $12 at most. I saw glass milk jugs (returnable) without lids for $4...you get $1 to recycle them. Plastic rubbermaid containers that are sold at the Dollar Tree for 4x the price. Almost nothing they had was worth the asking price, and nothing was a good deal.
I was excited when they reopened this location, but it’s been a massive disappointment. The first week, I thought I’d give them time to get back into the swing of things, but it’s been 3 weeks and no improvement. Sad to say, I will have to find a new thrift...
Read moreSadly we had an extremely bad experience at this location today. We had been in the store for 40 minutes , choosing items for stocking stuffers for employees. It was announced that the store would be closing in ten minutes so we were choosing several Jewelry items when the guy at the register yelled across the store . We are closed! Followed by a sarcastic do you know what that means?
He was ringing up a couple at the time and needless to say his unprofessionalism and rudeness was extremely uncalled for. I headed for the exit for find the door locked and unlocked to door for the customers who had just been checked out. In the meantime my friend went over to the checkout and told the employee it was still five minutes before closing. I went out to my vehicle to find the same thing when I checked the clock and also confirmed the time on my phone.
The upshot is the store lost around $80.00 in sales and two or more customers . This sad display of bad behavior and non existent customer service should not go un noticed. The employee in question was a tall African American man I'd guess I'm his mid 30s. Hopefully someone above his pay grade will read this and handle the situation.
Also the store was less than organized and clean. That being said I've worked and managed retail and am well aware of how things should and shouldn't be done and what realistic expectations are. All in all this experience has a...
