After far too long of putting it off, I got to explore true Indian food tonight. Unsure of exactly where to go and what to order, I ended up here at Authentikka after a suggestion from a food friend. She had been right before with suggestions, and she was again. This place was great! Such a treat.
Prior to our arrival, I had been studying the menu for a bit. It's nice sized with good descriptions and not too many options where you feel overwhelmed. I had settled in on the Spinach Cashew Pakora for an appetizer and was glad I had done so. The pakora was perfectly crisp and so tasty!! The two sauces given to dip them in ( tamarind and mint) brought out even more flavors and aromatics. My wife and I ordered the Mango Lassi to drink, figuring the smoothie like drink would help with the spice later on, which it does.
For the entree, we shared the House Platter and Palak Paneer. This came with 4 pieces of naan of our choice, which was plenty and delicious. The platter was a great way to sample some of the various meats they had to offer, cooked in different ways. We both loved the shrimp the most and want to try a seafood dish next time. I would recommend this dish to others like us, who are trying Idian cuisine for the first time. Great variety and tasty.
The Palak Paneer was so flavorful, spicy, and so aromatic. The heat we ordered was a medium, and we got exactly that. It's not too hot where it burned but not too weak either. I appreciate that so much. Neither of us had paneer before tonight and had no idea if we would like it. We did!! I really liked this dish. Will get it again.
We managed to save room for desert somehow and asked our server for a suggestion. He suggested we have the Gulab Jamun to finish off the evening, so we did. They were these sweet little balls of delicious dough in a sweet syrup like sauce with almond shavings. Remined us of pancakes and doughnuts all in one. It's really tasty.
Oh, I must point out that our sever Jeeto was awesome throughout the evening as he helped us pick out items and explained the sauces. The other servers were helpful and friendly as well when they brought out the dishes. Fantastic service overall.
Definitely recommend. Definitely will be back to try...
Read moreI was trying to inquire about catering. I have a party that I am hosting at my home and wanted to place an order. Its been a challenge just to contact someone in their catering. Cannot get any answer. Very poor customer service. Will go somewhere else to place my order. I would also add after reading some of the other reviews that the owner shows a no caring attitude for customers and is only money hungry. Most of the owners responses are for good reviews, I was only able to find a few responses by the owner for bad reviews. This kind of attitude and service will not get you far. So finally we were able to place our catering order, and the experience once again was horrible dealing with this restaurant when picking up our order. We were given a time of 5:30pm to pickup our order, and when we got to the restaurant we were told that we would have to wait 10 minutes for our order. Once finally after 15 min our order came, the guy at the front desk told me instead Paneer Tikka (Appetizer) they made Paneer Tikka Masala which was in a curry. He took that back and had it replaced. But things got worse from there, more money hungriness was showed on this restaurants part. We were told that the bill was a total of $160 with 5% discount for the poor catering service we got when placing our order. But when he charged us the guy at the front desk said we can give you 5% discount but since we were paying by credit card that they would charge us 6% sales tax. We ended up paying more for what we were quoted. This restaurants should close their doors and learn customer service standards first. We have been going to them since they opened, but we decided after this entire experience that we will not step a foot in this restaurant. We have many more choices in Farmington Hills, and Ann Arbor for our Indian food needs. Owner and their staff is money hungry and have no care for customers. If you can't service customers properly then close your doors until you have the proper staff. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING AND DON"T NEED TO RECEIVE A PATHETIC PHONE CALL FROM THE OWNER. THEY HAVE A NO CARE ATTITUDE. WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO...
Read moreI usually don't waste time in putting negative reviews since it is just an individual opinion when it comes to food and taste. Also, honestly don't want to hurt the business - everyone is trying to make the best with current situation. However, when I am really frustrated with the treatment and quality of food, I do want to express my opinion out there and hope for others to not get cheated like we did!
With pandemic we get a lot of carryout orders - every single time the curries is half filled, Biryani is half filled or mixed with white rice and no masala or half filled curry box with rest filled with oil. After noticing several times (believe me several times!!), I finally called and was lucky enough to talk to the owner about the experience - I even shared the pictures. He said he will fix it!
Even after this there was no change and on top, the lady in the front desk is super arrogant and treats customers like beggars. She once put me on hold for 10 ~ 15 mins and then tells that restaurant is closed. Also, somehow it is funny to her with saying our names and giggles while taking orders. Not sure if she does that to others!
Really frustrated with all I complained to the owner. Complaining ended up with no use - He was not at all apologetic but challenges me that one review will not impact his business and I can go ahead and do whatever I want!! One thing with this restaurant, when they are out of something and you order that - they will scrape up the leftovers and give it to you for making those few extra $$ - no care for quality or customer experience.
That's it for us - we are never going to this restaurant again!! I would warn others about the same with this...
