This was my first and last visit here. I ordered the crab cake. Prior to ordering the waitress informed me that it’s 60% real 40% imitation crab. I was disappointed but ok with this however, when my food arrive I took one bite of it and the batter was disgusting(tasteless) and greasy. One of my table mates tasted it as well and agreed. When the waitress came back to check on us I informed her of this. Very rudely she stated that she can’t take it off the bill and am I sure I don’t want to take it home and give it to someone else. I stated again, no it’s disgusting. The batter is not good how do y’all make it? That’s when she proceeded to say that’s how it comes. I said oh so it’s not house made. Then she walked away. It was unfortunate that she was not customer focused, no empathy, no understanding didn’t try to do anything to make it right. Due to her attitude I decided to cancel the carry out order that I placed and requested my bill. When she brought my bill I did inform her that she needs to be more customer focused… citing a policy and walking away is the complete opposite. I also suggested letting people know this is not a house made item (unlike most restaurants I frequent). She stated that she hates talking about it because it’s uncomfortable but they’re a small corporation so that’s why. I said while that’s fine you need to be more customer focused because honestly I had no issue with paying for the disgusting food and ordering something edible but her attitude turned me off completely. Additionally, not making this right significantly decreased her tip, cost them an additional order and future business from myself, those with me and anyone else I decide to inform of this encounter. I suggest revisiting your policies because word of mouth can help or hurt business and the last memory I would want a customer to have of my restaurant is that the food they received was disgusting, greasy and tasteless. Also if that’s your policy you should draw your customers attention to it when ordering so they know there is no satisfaction guarantee like any...
Read moreThis was the best dining experience I've ever had. I am no food critic, but I have been in the customer service and restaurant business for almost half my life, and I've never been anywhere (my own personal employment included) like it. We'll start with the food. I got the country omelette minus tomatoes, with their amazing potatoes. This was a delicious meal, the omelette was prepared the correct way, and the veggies inside were actually cooked! Now, the potatoes. My first initial complaint about this experience was that they don't serve hash browns, that was until I tried their potatoes. They were fried to perfection, and they were so flavorful, and not dry in the least. It was very impressive, as well as that country gravy poured generously over top. I would bet a generous portion of their food, if not all, is home made. In fact, I purposely waited to post a review until after I had eaten my leftovers just to see how well they reheated, and it was just as tasty the next morning, potatoes included! Our table also ordered the red velvet pancakes. The cream cheese frosting was perfect, not sweet at all, but paired with the powered sugar and the pancakes themselves, it was perfect! We ate them later when they were cold as a cake, and yes it was amazing. We also ordered a breakfast chicken biscuit sandwich, cheesy grits, and a side of bacon. I personally didn't try the last 3 items, but I heard no complaints. Now, for the service. Not only did their cooks know what they were doing, but their wait staff was also knowledgeable about the food that they serve. If you wanna see the definition of customer service in action, get breakfast here. I cannot tell you how much of a difference good customer service makes! The waitress was nice and very helpful in answering all of our many many questions. It was all amazing, I can't...
Read moreWe hadn't been here in a couple years, and their biscuits and gravy were calling to me, so we drove past our usual breakfast spot and headed here. We were seated after a 20 minute wait in a booth whose seats were sunken, kind of lumpy, and uncomfortable. Time to replace or re-stuff them. We ordered 2 biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and an order of pancakes, with plans to swap food halfway through breakfast. The chef could easily use half the amount of gravy and there would likely still be too much gravy on the biscuits. Sadly, the gravy has changed in the past two years. Previously it was homemade and wonderful, but now it looks identical to the boxed gravy served at your typical cafeteria, but this gravy at least has a little bit of their delicious sausage mixed in. Unfortunately, there's not enough sausage to mask the mediocre flavor of the gravy. The biscuits were dry and crumbly, breaking apart and crumbling into hundreds of small crumbs like a dry, overcooked cake would do. They need to return to the biscuits and gravy they started serving when they first opened. On another note, when my pancakes were flipped, one of them flipped over wrong and cooked folded over on itself so it was heavier/denser than any pancake should be. They tried to disguise this by hiding it in the middle of the stack, not considering that I'd need to pull it out to spread the giant glob of butter rapidly melting on the top pancake. As far as size goes, if you're hungry, still order a short stack. Only someone with an enormous appetite could eat three of these pancakes. All in all, it was an ok visit. Decent service. Ok food. A bit pricey compared to our favorite local coney island breakfast. So we'll be returning to our go to restaurant when we want to go to breakfast next. I do hope your experience...
