I went to the ER yesterday due to complications from an etopic pregnancy. When we decided on surgery, I asked for anxiety meds. They refused, saying I'm about to go to sleep anyway. The ER doctor and nurse was absolutely amazing and said it would be no problem to get me something to ease my anxiety. The nurse went to get it, but before he could return and give it to me, they came and yook me to the OR. I was lying on the operating room table freaked out. They called a couple of rapid responses to same day surgery before I got there, so that raised my anxiety. When it was time to put me to sleep, they gave fentanyl and then put a bvm mask over my face that was attached to oxygen. The oxygen wasn't turned on high enough, and I couldn't breathe. I literally felt like i was suffocating. I asked again for anti-anxiety meds while laying on the table crying. The anesthesiologist then said "yea I'll give you some anxiety meds." I pushed the mask off my face again because I couldn't breathe and felt like i was suffocating. I looked over and asked what anti-anxiety meds the anesthesiologist was pushing. He then stated "well just we are gonna put you to sleep. Here it goes lots on burning." They are holding my face down with oxygen. I'm bawling because I'm suffocating, and now my head and arms and whole body is on fire. That's all I remember from the OR. I woke up in that same state they put me to sleep in, and they were hateful when I wanted to get out of there. I tried, and I begged for anti-anxiety medicine. The nurse Cari stayed late to make sure I was ok and was even upset for me they refused to give anti-anxiety medicine. My nurse said, "we did this before, and you better calm down. You are just fine." I looked at my vitals and said, "My vitals are great. I'm getting up, and im leaving." Some patient care tech said,"You are not a doctor. You don't know that." I looked at her and said no, but I work on the ambulance for a living and know my vitals are fine. I felt lied to and like I was tortured. How can you let someone get to the point that just accept that they are going to die on the table? How can you let someone get to the point they are bawling and asking for anxiety medicine and then lie to them and push sleep meds instead? This is the second time it has happened. In the last 3 months. This is uncalled for an unnecessary. I would NEVER treat my patients on the...
Read moreI wouldn't subject any person to this hospital. The er nurse who was my child's triage nurse who knew or said she had his chart. Im assuming through epic since most hospitals use epic now and she was able to read off his allergies to us. So she knew his allergies since she named them all. When I asked for a cath set for my child who BTW has kidney and bladder issues. Who had just had a major bladder surgery just months before and she KNEW she brought me a Foley kit the wrong size with his biggest allergy LATEX in it. It was wrote on the packaging in big letters. I took it back up she then again sends out two more completely wrong sizes. It was my fault that I didn't have his kits with them due to the fact we came straight from his school because we were under the assumption it was his VP shunt in his brain not draining correctly which can kill him if not attended to in a timely manner. They knew ALL of this. We sat in the er waiting room six hours before just taking him to a different er which we got in right away when I explained what was going on.
Your staff knew all these details! The same triage nurse who had the worst freaking attitude ever even helped me get my son who is paralyzed out of the car heard him screaming in pain when being lifted did NOTHING to help us!!! I informed the receptionist multiple times he was getting worse. I understand there is a process. But what "SO CALLED HOSPITAL" allows a child who is special needs with a shunt line sit for six hours after his mother informs them multiple times he was getting worse?! How can you all say you're the best???
I wouldn't take anyone I love to the hospital for any reason! Heck I wouldn't even take anyone I dislike to this hospital!! That's how BAD of a hospital you all are! Oh I did ask for the in house supervisor was told three times YOU SIR/MA'AM was coming down to discuss things with his dad and I. Guess you got lost on the way to speak to us! Gonna also assume you will claim you weren't Informed either. I'm also guessing to Jason who I left a vm for this morning around 8:15am won't receive or return that call either. Funny...
Read moreI have several concerns about this facility. My daughter recently was in the L&D department for delivering her second child. The first time she was there for a few hours because of an elevated blood pressure and released. The nurses that admitted her for observation were wonderful but the shift was changing and the night crew pretty much ignored her the whole time she was there. They were very slow to respond when she needed something. She asked for water and they NEVER brought her anything. The night she was brought in for induction, they started oxytocin to augment labor and for a couple hours it ran. Then they changed their mind and said she was only 37 weeks not 39 weeks and stopped it. Two hours later changed their minds again and started it back up. The next morning the baby was delivered. The morning they were being readied for discharge they were told the baby was jaundiced and couldn't be released. No problem sometimes infants are jaundiced, it happens. But when the child was taken to the pediatrician she will be seeing regularly he was baffled as the bilirubin levels weren't at all alarming to him. BUT.... the newborn screening that ALL babies are to have before being released from the hospital had been done incorrectly and needed to be done again. SO another 75 mile trip to Cape for a new mother and newborn, the mother who is stressing over money because she is off work for maternity. AND when she gets there they are confused as to what TEST needs to be done and draw blood. Fast forward a few days... the pediatrician gets the results BUT AGAIN IT IS NOT RIGHT. I am beginning to think that you have a large number or incompetent people on staff there or they just don't care at all about anything but a paycheck. Either way I will make sure that my large extended family in Missouri and Illinois avoid your facility like the plaque. I am not sure whom i should address this to but here it is for the whole ...
