I had a terrible experience trying to just exchange an item that was a Christmas gift for a different size. The associate asked me to get the receipt from the person who gave me the gift, which I thought was rude. I wasn't asking for money, only to exchange. I gave the number that the rewards/ order would have been under. They claimed to not have found anything. Fast forward to my friend having to go in and mysteriously they were able to pull the transaction up under her phone number which is the same that I had given. I felt like they gave me the run around including the manager or whoever the associate called for help. The return/ exchange policy is ridiculous and they don't try and work with you. Customer service has really gone downhill...

I unexpectedly was in cape so I was going to exchange them for another pair. The sales clerk declined to assist me since I didn't have my receipt. I informed her that it was purchased using my Penney's card. She said no... can't do it. You must have receipt. My friend had me go to return department and they took care of the return. Read moreWent for Christmas shopping, looking for jewelry. Place was pretty busy and they were handing out certificates for additional savings, 20, 30, 40% off. Unfortunately only 2 clerks for the entire jewelry counter, and they were very slow and ignored all who they we not directly involved with. I waited 40 minutes, and when people who were there before me started getting upset, that was it. The whole area was filled with people wanting products and not nearly enough staff to accommodate them...not even close. Spent my jewelry money elsewhere in the mall, had to wait there too, but was at least acknowledged and was told someone will be right with me. Poor staff training at Penny's and being ill prepared for the volume of customers cost them...
