New Village Arts — Attraction in Carlsbad

Last night, I took my elderly mother and two adult sons to see the Carlsbad, CA, production of Oklahoma. The show was marvelous! The entire cast was great and believable. Especially impressive was the singing. All were wonderfully trained singers, with perfect intonation and each had great vibrato. It really wouldn't be fair to mention one or two, as all were outstanding. This live production was so much more enjoyable than any Hollywood film. The theatre, as I understand it, is newly remodeled and is intimate----not a bad seat in the house. As a classically trained professional musician myself, who has played in hundreds of major Los Angeless professional productions, I can say that last night's performance was on par with any production at any venue in the Los Angeles area. Do yourself a favor by attending an afternoon or evening performance of Carlsbad's production of " Oklahoma." You'll be glad...

We saw the preview for 8Track on Sunday and it was so fun! Most of us were of the vintage where this was our music and there was a lot of smiles and head bopping in our seats. I think at our ages we were a little too shy about standing and dancing in the aisles but the music was great. The set was simple but so evocative of the times, and the times were reflected very cleverly through the use of actual recordings and visuals of important periods and events. Go! Love the production values of this small and very professional theater. It's art at its raw core. the stage is the palette of the artists who we are fortunate enough to watch thier vision come alive. A true ensemble of talented directors, actors, backstage coordinators, musicians and the good people who manage the 🎭 theater come together to bring us an experience that's not to be missed.
