Seashore on the Sand — Hotel in Carlsbad

This is a relatively small group of apartments to rent ("vacation rentals"), all in one four-story building right on the beach in the charming southern California beach town of Carlsbad in northern San Diego county. (Camp Pendleton Marine base is just a few miles further north.) Dogs are allowed in most of the units -- a rare characteristic in this part of the county.

The phrase "right on the beach" should be taken literally. You go downstairs to the ground floor, step out onto a patio, turn left for about 3 yards, open a low gate, go down 4 steps and you are on the beach. The management provides beach chairs, umbrellas, and children's plastic beach toys at no charge to residents. All units face the ocean and have large plate glass windows and a balcony from which to view and hear the waves. Depending on the time of year, parking can be difficult to find. For a fee, the building's 5 parking spaces can be rented by renters during their stay but there are not enough spaces for all units to have one assigned to them. Street parking is the only option for about half of the renters. We had no trouble finding street parking in the last week of August but it is scarce during the summer when schools are closed and families come to Carlsbad for vacation. Each unit has a nicely equipped kitchen and then one, two, or three bedrooms, one to three bathrooms, a dining/living room, and living room furniture. The one bedroom units have a fold-out bed in the couch and it is very comfortable, unlike most such couches! The location cannot be beat, the managers/hosts are very accommodating and strive to make your stay comfortable and convenient. They informed us that all units are going to be completely refurbished in December 2018 and will then be even more comfortable and convenient. If you are searching for an ideal place to spend some relaxing time on the beach, then Seashore on the Sand is where you need to go. We spent three nights at the vacation rental property and we loved every single minute of it.

First, the service is excellent. From the reservation process to getting into our room, the team and staff are friendly, helpful, and very pleasant to be around.

Second, we stayed in the 'Seas the Day' room. This is basically a well-furnished, one-bedroom apartment that is spacious, provides excellent views overlooking the beach and ocean, a most wonderfully comfortable bed, large closet, attractive bathroom with roomy shower, and a full-size kitchen. The accommodations were clean, well-presented, attractive, and fully functional.

Third, the location of the property is situated along the middle of the beach. It can't get much better than this! The property also provides boogie boards, chairs, and umbrellas when you want to be on the beach, too.

Nearby is Carlsbad Village, which offers a variety of restaurants and shops to explore. It's fun to walk around the area -- and this is a very walkable and pet-friendly area, too.

Overall, Seashore on the Sand deserves a great many kudos for offering such a lovely property in such a beautiful location. Keep up the great work and we look forward to returning again -- and as soon as...

From the moment I arrived to the moment I left the property I felt that Seashore On The Sand was my home. The staff is always ready to assist and make me feel comfortable with accomodations, recommendations and offering suggestions when I ask for one as well. Ed, the owner is always so kind, and made sure that I had the best view. Josie, who handles the office most days is so sweet and called me to make sure if I was coming back that my parking space was not blocked! The vacation rental unit was pristine clean and had all the kitchen utensils and cookware that I needed. The beds are so comfortable, I slept like a baby. The heating in the unit kept me very cozy on the comfortable couches, curled up in the extra blankets and pillows from the extra cabinets/storage. The sunset every day was astonishing and hearing the break of the waves the whole time was so therapuetic, I left there feeling peaceful. I'd come back again and again! Anyone looking for a perfect vacation right on the sand, has to book this place!
