Lieu de Sculpture- School — Attraction in Carlsbad

Dana Mccullough is the owner and a fabulous instructor in clay sculpture. I've taken instruction under her for a year after about ten years taking classes under another teacher. Her style is mostly a hands-off. She lets you choose the subject (within reason) and helps you where need be, but she also offers structured instruction where models are present to sculpt from a live to subject. She's funny, smart, intuitive, kind yet firm and so helpful! Generally, people sign up for a pack of classes, as it's almost impossible to finish any sculpture in one session.

Parking is easy and free, and Carlsbad villages a great place to visit after your class or grab a bite to eat.

Experience: the sculptures here are absolutely beautiful! My favorite are the ones of women because they are portrayed out-of-this-world beautifully. There is one that is two faces of girls or women (near the front of the building) that I really love and connected to the most because it looked like my sister and me. I really felt connected to that. It's so beautiful how pieces can have profound affects on us.
