Gallery 21 — Attraction in Carmel-by-the-Sea

Like many of the other reviewers, we walked into Gallery21 as we strolled through downtown Carmel. New to Eyvind Earle...we were captivated by the art on display that is visible from the sidewalk. What can you say? The work is stunning. I knew I would be leaving town with at least one piece! Both Mike and loan were so helpful in explaining the background of Eyvind...and the process of his art. That gallery is magical - I feel so badly for all the folks who walk by and are too intimidated by really magnificent art stores to stop in and just say hello. They should stop and look and learn - whether they purchase or not. I learned long ago that the cost of art really is insignificant to a buyer - I knew looking at the art in that gallery that I needed to be viewing that art in my home. That was the end of that decision. : ) And now I am researching additional Eyvind works...and have reached back out to loan. I need more wall space...as I see Eyvind's vision nearly everywhere I drive these days. Salinas...on a drive in North Carolina, recently...in the snow belt, in Ohio. What...

My wife and I were gallery browsing in Carmel, CA past weekend. I don't know how many we've been to but one that stood out for me was Gallery 21. Pretty much all Eyvind Earle originals and serigraphs. I didn't know much about Eyvind Earle but once I found out, his life story is one that you should definitely get to know.

The person there (we think Iaon) was so kind to my sisters and me, telling us fantastic stories about the life of Eyvind and about how they worked together. We loved the style of the paintings and influence of the prints, definitely some Japanese influence in the flatness of some works and the bold clear outlines. Absolutely worth a visit and one day I’d love to have one of...
