I love Daiso for good quality daily items that can cost 2-5 times more on Amazon or at a different store. I always have good experience here except today. I have a feedback to add.

[Problem with self checkout] What happened: I was using self check out. There were two stations and one of them was out of order. When I scanned all items, the screen didn't show one item so I scanned it again. I made sure the total number is correct before I paid with my card. When I got the receipt, it showed the item was scanned twice. So I went back to a cashier to get $1.50 refunded but it took a while to resolve the simple issue because the system was very inconvenient.

Solution a cashier provided and my perspective: She said I can grab the same item since "I" scanned it twice or come back on Monday for $1.50 refund. I kept explaining that it wasn't my fault and asked to give me more convenient solution. But she and her buddy cashier were saying they don't have the code or they can't leave a message to their manager because they go to school on Monday. I didn't need to know that.. I asked if I can grab a different item and she said I can't since "I" scanned the lunch bag twice. It wasn't MY fault and you guys need to fix the self checkout. I don't need two lunch bags and can't comeback during manager's work hour, which is weekdays according to the cashier, because I work too. I couldn't believe the cashier told me just to keep checking in every I visit just for $1.50. It felt like I was talking to an AI that wasn't programmed for such situation.

How it ended: I kept insisting to give me more convenient solution and the cashier kept saying the same thing to get rid of me since there was a long traffic in line. That was unfair. I asked for manager's direct number and she told me to use the store number. I declined and asked for a direct number. Then she finally got a staff who had authority to refund cash. The buddy cashier wasn't a good help because he gave her not-a-good answer which is why she gave me such inconvenient solutions. I guess he didnt fully comprehend what was going on? She was polite and I know that she is nice because I saw her another time before this. I wish the manager made easier system for the cashier so we could have avoid such uncomfortable situation.

My suggestion: Please allow a cashier to be connected to a manager or assistant manager, whoever is working at the hour, by phone while she is still at cashier, even during weekends. So she can resolve the issue quickly and assist the next customer. She had no idea she can grab the assistant manager to resolve the simple issue. If I didn't keep insisting to get a direct number to the manager, I would have left and not wanting to come back to the location for $1.50. It was very inconvenient system for both customer...

It's the best $1.00-$1.50 store on the planet and Carrollton has one! Ok so some of the items there that are bigger and better can go above $1.50 but they're still worth it. This is like the galore of cool stuff that is practical and useful, too. They originated from Japan but their stuff is not all made there. To name a few things off the top of my head that they carry - they have empty travel bottles (to fill with your own stuff), brushes, toothbrushes, brooms, buckets, scarfs, batteries, Asian snacks, plasticware, stools, chairs, kitchen utensils, slippers, reusable bags, pens, hairpins, clips, markers, notepads, notebooks, stickers, toys, Asian beverages, makeup, plates .. the list goes on and on .. like forever! Just get in here and figure things out for yourself cuz I can just about guarantee you will leave here with something that you needed!! Think of it like Costco but for more practical household items. Oh and you won't leave here with a tab of $200 that you didn't mean to spend!! Parking is plentiful but somehow still hard to find on the weekends. This is due to the entire plaza being a boom town of Asians getting all of their errands and socializing done in one place! Be patient and you'll be fine. There is also not much handicap parking so don't hold your breath if you're wanting one of those on...

Wonderful place to visit to spend a little bit of money and come away with a ton of stuff! Sure, it may not all be useful stuff--who needs eight kinds of chopsticks, really? But if buying things makes you happy, this is a perfect store to visit.

There are some staples I visit here for as well--small kitchen dishrags at 6 for $1.50 (great price to use them as disposables), kitchen sponges, oversized hair clips, puzzle piece floor tiles for the cats, cat toys, plant containers, loads of organization items. Beyond useful household items though, there's a lot to "treat yourself" with--I found some adorable dessert-shaped erasers to collect, they've got a lot of sewing supplies, decent pens for cheap, adorably shaped cookie molds, etc. Really, there's a lot to go through! And you could fill your cart and not spend more than $50.

It does feel a bit disingenuous that their snacks section tends to not adhere to the $1.50 price point (I imagine they're the most popular items), but it's still often a better price than you could get importing them through...

Update: Having just visited Daiso in Japan, I'm surprised how much stock has managed to come overseas! Coming from a place that Daiso never opened in, I was looking forward to visiting this Daiso while in Dallas. The parking lot was jam-packed thanks to all the Korean and Japanese stores around. We circled a few rows before finding a spot. Daiso is basically the cool Asian version of the dollar store. You can find some cool stuff here that dollar stores would never carry. My girls love going here to get fancy stationary and neat stickers. My wife and I like to look at the snacks and random Asian items that we need at home. People here are friendly. Cashiers are nice and well-mannered. Can't wait to come back again!

I love Daiso! They are my go-to for cheap storage solutions, shelf organization, etc. Very good quality for the price. I still use certain items I bought almost a decade ago. This location in particular always has a good selection, both practical things that I'm looking for (this time it was bookends and mini storage drawers) and cute, useful things I never knew I needed. For example, why put standard felt pads on the bottom of your chair legs when you could turn them into cat paws instead?
