Bah Humbug! I could not be more disappointed with my last gun purchase at Shoot Straight in Casselberry. I can’t believe how they did not honor Smith & Wesson’s warranty. I was actually charged $64.20 for a repair to a brand new gun I bought. I bought an S&W M&P Shield 11/6/16 at the Casselberry location. I took it from the box to the range and shot around 40 rounds. I went home and started to field strip it so I could clean the gun. To my surprise the lever that allows the top rail to come off actually pushed all the way down and fell out. I took it back to Shoot Straight the next day 11/7/16 and dropped it off. I explained to the employee that assisted me what had happened while I was prepping to clean the gun. At that time I was assured that the gun would be repaired and that it was “no big deal, really easy fix, and shouldn’t take more than a few weeks”. Fast forward to 12/6/16 around 7:30 pm, some 29 days later. After being notified that my gun was ready to be picked up I showed up to claim my gun. That is when I was informed that I was being charged for the repair. I questioned the employee that was waiting on me about the charge. I said it was a new gun purchase and I did not see how I was being charged. He went on to say that it was his store policy that he could not give his gunsmiths time away. I again stated that it was a new gun purchase. Then the employee went on to ask me “who did you give the gun to, you did not give it to me”. I told him I had no idea who waited on me. I did not take his name but he would have been the person that filled out my repair slip and the claim ticket. The employee then announced that he was the manager and that I did not talk to him. Which was true, how would I know if no one told me. I again explained to the “now” manager that I did not know who I spoke to and I only worked with the person that served me at the counter. I felt like he was implying I was lying to him. I said I am sorry that I don’t know your employees name. I reminded him I was the person that had bought the new gun and was bringing it back to his store. He again explained to me that it was his stores policy that he could not give away the gunsmith’s time. I mentioned to him as a business person and as the manger he had a choice. He could hide behind his policy or do what would be right. Again I heard the store policy we don’t give away the gunsmith’s time. I also reminded that person I was a regular customer, I had bought several new guns lately, taken my concealed weapons permit class there, and bought a lot of other items at that store. Well you may have guessed, I received one more verse of it is our company policy. I knew I was not going to change his mind but I did want to mention some facts to him as I left. You might have been professional to me but you were wrong. You had a choice as the manger and you made the choice to hide behind your policy. We’ll as a consumer I have a choice to make with my money. Shoot Straight you can consider this review as one step in my decision making process. Did you really win? …and by the way I am a middle aged gun enthusiast with a concealed weapons permit. My friends and I like to buy guns, shoot guns often, and buy accessories. You won’t be seeing any of us and anyone else I can convince to shop anywhere else. Enjoy my $65 dollars, of which your real cost were...
Read moreShoot Strait has always been hit or miss. Sometimes you are able to haggle an alright deal, but you have to understand that most everyone that works there is super arrogant and act like they know far more than any customer that walks in the store.
Now, I've bought 3 guns from Shoot Strait this year. Mainly I go there because it's close to my house and they have a solid selection, I've never particularly liked the place. But the reason for my 1 star review is as follows:
Tuesday, the week before Christmas--I went into the store and bought a S&W AR .22 for my wife's Christmas gift. I decided to buy a simple bushnell red dot (137$) and asks them to just put it on at the store so I wouldn't have to mess with it when I got home--just wrap the box and call it a day. So my wife gets the gun, and she loves it but was not a fan of the site. She preferred the stock rail sites (they're actually pretty nice on this new models FYI) so I went to take the red dot back today (4 days after purchase) and I never thought I would have any troubles doing so, but I was wrong. Mind you, the gun has never had a round fired through it, my wife just wants the stock sites.
I go to an associate with the site (all in packaging with receipt) and he exams it for a few minutes. After doing so he goes to the back office to speak with his manager. He comes out and says they can't return it because they don't do returns on opened optics. I explained to him it was opened because they put it on when I bought the gun from them 4 days prior. I asked if I could speak to the manager, to which the associate said "I just spoke with the manager" and I said "I'm aware of that, I would like to speak to him". Again, the people that work here are arrogant and cocky, this is nothing new. So the manager comes out and looks at the site, then asks me "was it mounted?" And I said "yes, by that associate right there 4 days earlier" and pointed to the guy that sold me the gun and put the site on. To which the manager said "we don't return any mounted sites". I explained that I just bought the gun from them, his employee put the site on, and I just want a refund I even said I would just take a store credit for when I buy my next gun. But, the manager was having none of it all while being smug and arrogant. I told him I've spent nearly 2500$ in his store this year alone and asked if they really wanted to lose by business permanently over a 120$ red dot site, to which he replied "if that's your choice".
I walked out and will never be back. Again, they have a solid selection but please understand their sticker prices are outrageously high. You have to really try to haggle them just to even get a respectable deal to where you feel like your not being ripped off. And after seeing how they treated me over such a tiny purchase--I will never be back nor will I ever recommended anyone to shop there. I have taken optics back to Gander Mountain and other guns shops without issue numerous times.
This store just wants to make a quick buck and they've gotten far to large to care about 1 customer like myself.
Please, try other local gun shops or even Gander Mountain. This place loves selling you things but the second you walk out of the store they could care...

The customer service at this location is atrocious. I literally watched an employee call another employee over the phone in the actual store and witness them bicker back and forth over helping another couple that walked in for service.
One employee clearly hung up on the other employee and the couple ended up getting no service at all for a other 10 minutes.
Let's now get into the meat and potatoes of this review. I order a firearm that was delivered on Monday ( I know this through tracking.) Upon arrival we were told that they were having computer troubles and could not find my purchase. I called back the next day to be told that shoot straight had such a LARGE amount of firearms delivered due to a gun show and I would have to wait.
It was at that point I had to mention that I actually work for a gun distribution company and found that information to be quite fishy.
Low and behold, I received a phone call less than an hour later telling me that my purchase was ready for pickup. HUGE MISTAKE!!! Interesting how quickly they were able to ,"process" ALL the incoming inventory so quickly.
Upon arival i had to wait for an employee to finish eating his food before even being acknowledged, (not even a hello, ill be right with you.) After his disastrous introduction and lackluster hello I was lead to an area where it only got more embarrassing for everyone. The BOY ended up walking away and left me with another individual who didn't acknowledge me for a good 5 minutes yet standing less than 3 feet away from me. 45 minutes later I was told that I would have to return again to pick up my purchase.
In between that 45 minutes is when I experienced the dispute between the two employees over the phone regarding give a customer some service. If I were the owner I'd clean house since none of the employees there seem to have any interest in representing shoot straight in a correct manner. Very very disappointed. I will never have another purchase delivered to this location and im seriously considering ending my membership ( and we won't even get into that.)
Next!!! Their firearms are WAYYYYYY over priced. I was sickened by the price tags placed on their product. What I suggest to everyone is to purchase your firearms online and have them delivered to an ffl dealer anywhere but there. Ive purchased and had delivered many firearms to other locations and NEVER received such horrible incompetent service as I've had...
