Sweet Basil Thai Cuisine — Restaurant in Cedar City

Honestly, I had the worst time on my last visit. Typically I have a pretty decent time here and my food is always good, but this time was enough to make me not want to come back. It didnt have much to do with the food, other than it was incredibly spicy. I couldnt finish half of my meal and had to give it to someone else at the table (I ordered a 3 when asked how spicy on a 1-10 scale), I was disappointed but that wasn't my main issue.

I got an older asian woman as our server (one of the owners) and she was so rude. She first approached our table after a really long wait and asked, "Do you know what you want" with such a straight face. We were nothing but polite the whole time, but when I asked what soup she gave us (it was very good and came with our meal), she turned her nose up and turned away before she answered me, but i still complimented that it was good. Even the company I had with me shot me a weird look when she did that. She never came to check on us or ask how anything was, I didnt get a water until after I gave my meal up because I not only finished my drink, but also the other persons on the table since my mouth was on fire. We wanted to also sit any enjoy a dessert despite everything, but upon asking for our waters, she brought the check along with it not saying one word and walked away. Keep in mind we were the ONLY table there at 2pm.

Really, Im not trying to hate on this place because its usually good food with okay service, but I just hope that I never get her as a server again. She just made me feel like she hated me and any interaction with her, as brief as it was, was uncomfortable. She never really said anything, greeted us, or smiled once.

horrible. the food was decent, but the service was horrible. there were four of us, three of us ordered the pad thai and one of us ordered the chicken tenders. we all ordered level 2 spice on the pad thai. the waitress was friendly, and we didn’t start seeing problems until our food came to the table. the pad thai came first, and when i tried it, it was way spicier than a 2. when the lady brought the chicken tenders, i kindly explained that the pad thai was wayy to spicy hoping she would offer to remake the pad thai at a lower spice level, but instead the lady got mad and very rude responded saying “if you know you can’t eat spicy food don’t order spicy food.” she then walked away leaving me in shock with her response. after that my friend got her chicken tenders but had to return them because they were cold in the middle. they actually remade her food and brought it out a few minutes later. while i very sadly ate my pad thai (because it was expensive) we all got uncomfortable while the woman who gave us our food rudely stared at us until we left. we also ordered the appetizer plate and we’re DISGUSTED with the raw tofu that was horribly fried. the rest of the appetizers weren’t bad though. then we we returned home my friend who ate the chicken tenders vomited. not only did we get horrendous customer service, but my roomate got sick after eating the not properly cooked chicken tenders. the food was good, the service was terrible. save yourself a trip and go to another ceder city...

The food was good I come here quite often and normally the service is good and normally we tip every waitress cause we understand the importance of tipping. This time we did not because the waitress was rude and had a bad attitude. We put $0 on the tip when we signed the receipt and the next day we were charged a $5 tip so we called the restaurant and the manager was even worse and said that we have to pay a tip even if the service is bad. She started arguing with us implying that we were bad people for not tipping. Saying that we left the table messy when we did not as we are always respectful when we go out to eat and even stack the dishes to make it easier on them. Overall worst experience not being able to trust that when you sign a receipt that you will actually be charged the correct amount. I had to go into the store to get my money back and she immediately took out $5 of her wallet and handed it to me.
