Welcome to Megaplex Theater's "red-headed step child" of a theater. They obviously are taking care of it, but they have other priorities. When you walk in the front lobby looks like it's a couple decades out of date, but they were able to install one of those Dyson hand dryers in the bathroom. The screening rooms, themselves, are in better shape. Obviously this was the target for the renovation, and I admit I'm glad for it. I just wish when I entered it didn't feel like I was walking into a $1 Theater. I feel that with the amount of money that Megaplex brings in that they could easily do more to this theater to appeal to the masses. Cedar City may not be bustling like The District, Jordan Commons, or Jordan Landing, but I feel that it has a big enough population that they could do more. From what I understand, Megaplex owns the two theaters in town, and depending on what you're wanting to see depends on what place you go to. Why not just consolidate the locations and make a new facility. Something modern. Something appealing. Something to bring other businesses to the area. I feel that Jordan Commons really brought Sandy city to life, and helped it grow! Come on Megaplex, you can do better! Get that 5th star!
TL;DR: Lobby looks like a 90's $1 Theater, Screening Rooms are fantastic!
Update: Not all screening rooms are equal. They’ve added nicer seating in the time from my last review of this place, but auditorium 1 (where I saw a movie recently) sounded like the sound system had been ignored with some of the renovations that may have taken place. My TV at home produces a better audio experience.
Come on, Megaplex Theaters/Blake Anderson! Cedar City needs a huge...
Read moreUsed to love the luxury experience at this theater and we paid a little more to enjoy it. Now they have decided to "expand" their luxury offering but they did so horizontally rather than vertically. In other words they crammed in twice the number of seats in one row and so now you're crammed into a 10-in wide seat and it's no longer even comfortable at all. Yeah you get to still extend your legs but as you're sitting there feeling your left cheek scrunched against your right so tight... You're very liable to take an injury here. It's like being crammed into the wild mouse at lagoon. I keep waiting to feel myself pop right out of the chair and be planted right across the screen like Wile E Coyote. I guess that might make the entertainment more interactive but I don't like the idea myself. This is just a pure greedy grab and it's totally made the luxury experience no longer worth the money. And as there other options nearby that offer much better luxury that's where we've been going. Why didn't they just do what they've done in the north with their megaplexes and make the whole theater...
Read moreI visited 7/30/2024 RIGHT when the power went out LoL Talk about a bad day because everything that could went wrong, went wrong, and all I wanted to do as a Marvel fan was watch Deadpool & Wolverine. Anyways, going to the movies, I was greeted by what I assume is the manager in purple, Chris? He was really helpful and cordial. He let us know that our movie at the time may be delayed due to the power outage and even offered me a ticket since my movie was surely going to start already since the power was off for a good 30+ mins. Literally the whole crew that day was ON IT. They went hard on the paint on trying to calm people's nerves because baby, people were TRIPPIN here and there. Like oi calm ya nerves. Rectifying a situation whilst remaining calm impressed me. So good on y'all.
P.S Sis who is always dressing in vintage literally brings the vibe of movie gworl. Not a day she hasn't received less than 10s across the board. I would throw her a bouquet of flowers if I could, but I'm a stranger and dass assault. LoL Thanks...
