Review for Our Ghost Tour with Sarah We had an absolutely fantastic time on our ghost tour, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide, Sarah! Her storytelling was captivating—she blended historical facts with eerie legends so seamlessly that we felt transported to another time. Her enthusiasm and knowledge made every stop along the way feel alive (or should we say, haunted?). Sarah’s ability to paint a vivid picture of Charleston’s past kept us engaged from start to finish. She was not only informative but also made the experience fun and interactive, ensuring everyone in the group felt involved. Whether you’re a skeptic or a true believer, Sarah’s storytelling will send chills down your spine! If you’re considering a ghost tour, we highly recommend going with Sarah. She’s an incredible guide who truly brings history to life—while reminding you that some spirits never really left.

I have done several tours through Bulldog over the years and they never disappoint. Last night was no exception. Our tour guide was Sarah and she arrived full of energy, information and humor. When a guide is visibly passionate about the tales they are sharing as Sarah absolutely was, it makes for a much better overall experience. She knew the history of the jail like the back of her hand and answered all questions without hesitation. Next time I'm back in Charleston, I will be booking another tour through Bulldog and asking to book with Sarah by name. Im including one photo that I don't know how to explain or where to leave it. If you zoom in on Sarah, It has her face all contorted and her eyes don't make any sense. It also looks like there is some type of apparition directly in front of her. I have two other pictures from the same angle and they are fine.

Sarah was a wonderful tour guide, informative, funny and honest. The tour itself was interesting, the history of the land and building was great. The visual aspect of the tour was eh, there really wasnt much in there to look at, but I guess it cant be to full of stuff or the tour would be tripping over things in the dark. My opinion is that it cost to much. Its a cool tour, but maybe worth $20 not $42. Its only 5 or 6 rooms on one floor with 1 to 5 things in each room. Most had 1 or 2 things to look at and talk about. Again, its neat, but not worth the amount they charge. Must buy tickets online or over the phone, there is no box office on site. Site has a bathroom available. Site has water available for $2. Site has AC. The tour is given in the dark, very dim lights in the building and the guide has a flashlight.

Omg I can’t say enough about this tour!!! We had such a great time and Sean is the absolute BEST. he kept us laughing, jumping ;), and engaged the entire time! 45 minutes felt like 10 or 15 minutes max it was so riveting. He is extremely knowledgeable about the jail, the stories, and his added humor and personality are just icing on the cake. He added in just the perfect amount of personal experience to history to keep us on the edge the entire time. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone and everyone especially those who love history, mystery, criminal justice, who want an experience they will never forget, or who wants to learn more about Charleston history in general. We are about to book a second tour on the USS Yorktown for this Saturday and we are going to be specifically requesting that Sean be our guide. I will even pay extra just to have him if I need to!! He really was amazing.

I also witnessed him being a kind human off the clock too, which I believe will highlight the kind of people Bulldog hires and the Character of Sean himself. While my daughters and I took pictures of the outside of the building from the sidewalk, Sean noticed one of our fellow tour members who was sitting alone on the sidewalk. Not trying to eavesdrop; I couldn’t help but overhear that this young lady was alone and waiting on a ride-share (I believe or possibly a friend) and Sean (who I’m sure was exhausted from doing these tours all day) waited with her until her ride arrived to ensure that she got in it ok saying that he knows that the streets can be more dangerous at night especially for a young lady alone. While I was trying to give them their own space and privacy within their conversation, I was only a few feet away and found his gesture to be quite sweet and shows that he cares about far more than just making a paycheck. He truly enjoys and loves what he does. Which shines out in every moment of his tour. While there we caught some great photos and one that I am particularly stunned by. I want to post it to social media and share it here but I want to send it to Bulldog Tours first to get their thoughts. Afterwards I will come back to post!

Overall, great tour, amazing history, even better tour guide, and an experience that my family will talk about for years to come. Our daughters talked the ENTIRE 2.5 hour ride home about the tour. They loved it and learned so much. While I agree this may not be a great idea for younger kids, my pre-teens handled it very well but of course, consider your child’s own circumstances before making the decision to take them with you on this particular tour, and we also discussed how methods and laws have changed over time how the things done both BY the inmates and TO them, were wrong on every level. Which helped them to understand

I loved this so much I would have honestly gone out the exit door and immediately got in line to go again. SEAN IS THE BEST TOUR GUIDE AND THE TOURS PROVIDED BY BULLDOG ARE TOP NOTCH. I hope you all book it (and any of their other tours!) and experience the same excitement and giddy-suspense that my family did. Thank you again Sean and Bulldog and we will see you Saturday! Hopefully soon I can post the...

I am only giving one star because there’s no option for zero. The tour guide had it in for my friends and me from the moment we entered the tour. She kicked me out, and I honestly have no idea why. Apparently, I was not allowed to speak to my friends as we walked, and showing any kind of surprised response to her stories was also not allowed. I’ve been on this tour several times in the past, and I can 💯 say that this was by far the WORST EXPERIENCE I’ve ever had. I can’t believe I was forced to pay $41 for such a subpar job at entertainment and customer service. I am making it my life goal to make sure that I share with every person I know how abysmally bad this tour has become. It’s really sad, because the Old City Jail is one of the spookiest places I’ve ever seen, and now it’s just a joke.

Edit to add: Hmmm, so the fact that I used my mom's account to buy the ticket makes me a liar and my mom a bad person? Wow. First, the group I was with are some of the most respectful and well-behaved kids in my school. We all were raised well by our parents, and know how to act in public. The fact that I laughed at a joke that Sarah told and that upset her is beyond me. While my friend and I were in the back of the group, and talked here and there, we were in no way being disruptive or distracting, and if we had been, a simple, "Please stop," would have been all that was needed to get us to zip our lips. Second, the fact that you would come here to a negative review and not only accuse my friend and I of rude behavior, but also accuse my parents of bad parenting is immensely unprofessional. What business tries to catch someone in a lie and judge someone's character? You must not like money. Third, your employee literally spends her days online complaining about everyone who is not like her, and it's clear that she is a miserable person. I'm just sad that you have control of what once was a great and scary place to go, and only hope that it can be acquired by new owners someday so that normal people can go and enjoy themselves again without being judged. And I certainly won't ask for a refund, because you definitely need the money...

It was a great tour! We had Sarah as a tour guide and she was phenomenal. She shared a lot of history and paranormal background to the jail and grounds itself. I’m recommending this tour (with Sarah whenever available) to anyone I know that plans to come into town.

Inside was really eerie and both my friends and I had experiences we couldn’t really explain away (I usually find things to attribute a rational cause).

In the wheelchair room, as we entered, one of my friends immediately started crying and couldn’t stop until she left the room. This was before hearing anything about the room, the chair, etc.

In the guards quarters, everyone was in the room and I heard a man sigh behind me. I was closest to the open doorway and didn’t think anything of it since there was another visitor that usually chose to stand in the doorway and get photos of the room when people left. I was shocked to find no one behind me in the doorway, no one in the halls, and the mentioned visitor was in the room across from me. The rest of the time we were in the room, the hairs on my neck were standing up and the skin of my back was prickling unlike anything I’d ever felt before.

Also in the quards quarters, as Sarah was describing about a common entity in the room, there was a strange talking noise on one of the pipes that held electrical wires (so it wasn’t water, ac, etc). I heard it and looked over. As the tapping continued and got louder, a couple other people nearby started looking as well. My friend said she felt her hair being slightly tugged straight up. Someone next to me told us he heard it too and that the more people who paid attention to it, the...
