I applied for CPCC in January and itâs been a slog the entire time.
I sent in my application and waited 10 days for any response. I emailed to inquire about it, and I was told âwhoops, someone must have forgotten to send you an acceptance email,â which then still took two more emails before getting sent.
When I applied, I had my high school transmit my transcripts to CPCC. I got confirmation from the school board that they were sent and arrived.
After my acceptance letter came, I got an email from CPCC requesting that I send my transcripts. I replied saying that had already been sent, gave them the date in which they should have arrived.
I was told they hadnât received them yet. I confirmed with the school board that they were sent to the correct email.
I emailed CPCC back, again reiterating that they should have been received on that particular date. They again said they werenât there yet.
I responded, forwarding the correspondence with the school board, then sent that to all the email addresses I could find on the student information sheet. My transcripts had very clearly arrived, but this person was refusing to actually look because they were convinced they hadnât.
Magically, my transcripts had been found!
I then waited for correspondence from my academic advisor on the next steps to take after orientation. I didnât get anything.
So I emailed again and was told they forgot to assign me one. They got me a meeting with a temporary one so I could get set up.
I get that as adults we have to advocate for ourselves, but why do I am I stuck nagging people to literally just do their jobs?
The actual advisor I ended up being assigned was out on medical leave. She came back and emailed me.
When I tried communicating with her through the portal, she didnât respond. So I emailed her only to find out she went back on medical leave.
Absolutely no shade toward this advisor. I am not upset she took medical leave.
But if an advisor is going on leave for four months, that is probably something the school should mention to the students she is advising.
Then I got an email saying I owed them money for a previous semester. I paid fully for my class for the only semester I have taken. Not a huge deal to get that email in error but it just really drives home how disorganized it is.
The first session I had with an advisor (not my own) he told me that I had to take an additional tutoring credit for my English classes since my grades in high school werenât great.
Knowing my grades in high school werenât great, I took a placement test numerous weeks previous to my advising session.
But still, this advisor said I needed to have the support credit as well.
So I signed up for English and the support credit. Then another advisor (who got back to me after two weeks of me asking a question to anyone I could think of) said âyou donât need the support credit. Your placement test placed you out of that.â
So thanks to the first advisor who was about to have me pay an extra $200 for something I didnât need.
Also, it turns out the little sidebar on your student planning page is completely arbitrary and inaccurate to track how many credits you have left to complete.
The pros so far are that the online classes are plentiful so I can still work while attending school. The teachers are nice and communicative.
The financial aid office is about as helpful as a hole...
Read moreI had the great misfortune of enrolling in a course I was interested in at CPCC. The online enrollment was simple enough. I enrolled a month in advance and paid for the class and received no correspondence from the school afterwards. I arrive on the rainy Saturday(my first one off work in a few months) traveling from Mint Hill to downtown Charlotte and I finally locate the building. When I get onto the classroom the overhead projector wasn't working and the instructor spent about 15 minutes trying to get it to work. After a call to tech support and troubleshooting efforts of other staff and the entire class waiting for the start, nothing worked. So the instructor began checking Id's and informs the class if you do not have a book OR the correct book you will need to exit the class as school policy. I look around and everyone seems to have a book. Why did I not see anything about the course mentioning additional materials. This was on 3/19. I left that day and placed a call (voicemail because the customer service department was closed) to request a refund. After about 15 phone calls and half a dozen transfers over Monday and Tuesday, I was finally granted the refund and here we are 4/12 without the refund. Supposedly it was deposited back into my account but it is not there and the bank cannot locate any pending refund. I have spoken to the campus numerous times and still nothing. I was informed that it was requested on 3/23 and the last week of the month they do not process refunds... Interesting the they can certainly debit accounts with no issues but cannot seem to return the money. I will NEVER be using CPCC for any reason again. This is completely unacceptable and ludicrous to wait a month for an 127 dollar refund. I cannot believe such a huge place cannot complete as simple a transaction as a refund. Pitiful. Beware if you are paying out of pocket following up yourself is paramount. Do not rely on the school to get any information to you. Do your research otherwise you will undoubtedly have a similar horrible...
Read moreTheir admission process sucks. I applied weeks before the deadline sent transcripts and everything and then contacted them just to add my SSN on my application didn't hear anything from them for 2 weeks after I called again AND sent an email. This whole process took two months only to receive to acceptance letter and nothing else. When I tried to create my student login again account I kept getting errors. Had to contact IT. Then I tried to create a password and received âtoo manyâ attempts messages because I was sent three temporary passwords after IT fixed the first problem. I had to contact IT, AGAIN. I was finally able to create an account. If I didn't already go to UNCC I would have given up going here because after making a profile there were no other instructions on what else to do no see advisor, no go to this website, no go pick classes NOTHING. So AGAIN I sent admissions another email about how I received no guidance and their website doesn't have any of my transcripts or Fasfa and how I don't have an advisor and how to pick/change my degree. Bruh they sent me another acceptance email...they can't blame the pandemic because we've been in if for a year almost two if these people are doing their work from home they definitely need to go back to the office. Their terrible communication has gotten much much...
