If there was a negative star I would give it to Greyhound. I decided to take a bus trip back from Orlando to Charlotte via Atlanta as a road trip with my 9 year old. Worst decision ever! I purchased tickets online which went well, showed up on time to board the bus and after that was where things went downhill.
First, when boarding the bus, the driver looked as if he didn't even want to be at work. No smile, no greeting the customers etc.
Then, barely out of Orlando, the driver proceeds to abruptly stop the bus IN THE HIGHWAY and got out of his seat and faced the passengers to tell us "I ain't playing with y'all. I said phones should be on silent and listen to your music etc. using your earbuds. I will put you OFF this bus and y'all better get with it because you're stuck with me for the next 9 hours". We were all flabbergasted.
Then upon debarkation in Atlanta, my son forgot his neck pillow on the bus. 20 minutes later we called Greyhound and was told we have to go in person to find it. I went to the customer service desk and no one was there but a staff member looking straight at me from behind the glass. We locked eyes and I made it known that I needed help. He gave no assistance. I ended up having to ask the security guard for assistance who was giving me attitude for no reason despite me smiling and asking nicely in a polite and quite voice with a smile on my face.
I followed the security guard's instructions and went to the lost and found outside and waited in line for a long time before a young lady came. Upon asking (she was actually nice), she said that no one turned it in but I should go to the ticket desk on the inside and have them call to do a sweep of the bus at the garage.
I waited inside and observed the RUDE agent with the short buzz cut hair with the reddish/blonde on the top. She was being abrupt and rude to everyone and complaining about how she needed to leave because she had to go to church in the morning. I witnessed 2 occasions where she yelled out "SECURITY" on two men simply because they needed her help and objected to something she said, they weren't yelling but she was. The first guy was asking something about his ticket and the second one had run in the door because he had apparently JUST left his luggage on a bus and needed urgent assistance. He ran up to her while she was serving a passenger and apologized and was basically trying to figure out how to get the bus either stopped etc. and she told him off saying that he was cutting in the line and she doesn't tolerate that. He simply said to her "but I JUST left my bag on the bus" and she yelled "SECURITY".
So here comes my turn. I started (key word here is started) to try to explain what has happened with my son's neck pillow and before I finished she said "Lost and found is closed until Monday... they left at 5 o'clock and don't open until Monday morning". I then said to her very calmly and politely (not trying to get security called on me and my 9 year old), that the lady outside told me that a call could be made now as they're open. She basically chewed me a new one, never let me finish and said "NEXT".
When we went the next day to catch our bus to Charlotte another agent did place the call and it was not found. We then found out our bus was delayed and they said they had no idea when it would be departing. Literally no idea. No reason was given for the delay and another bus that was scheduled to depart roughly when ours was, was delayed 6 hours. I wound up having a friend drive us home.
This by far is the worst of the worst there is company-wise. I've used Megabus in the Northeast and also from Charlotte and always had funny and friendly staff. I only did this so my son would have a cross-country road trip type of perspective, and instead he hates it. Thanks Greyhound!!! Never will I use this bus again.
I see now the disparity of classes. People only use you because they need you and so you treat them like dirt. I'll be spreading the...

Wife purchased a ticket to go from Charlotte to NYC. Greyhound did not send wife's e-ticket. At the station station manager initially stated that a new ticket had to be purchased despite providing proof of purchase and confirmation number (sent in the form of an e-mail). Another (female) Greyhound employee present in the customer service office kept talking from the side really not making sense at all (so I will not try to even detail the nonsense that she was uttering). Any form of reasoning and common sense was not understood by any of these people. It was like talking to people without brains. The female Greyhound employee turned out to be one of those people who are so stupid that they do not even realize that they are stupid and at the same time had a impenetrable aura of entitlement. You hopefully know what type of person I am talking about.
Station manager became aggressive when I asked him for his last name and his manager's name and suggested that I had attitude. He stated that he was his own manager. His name is Demetrius. When I tried to sit down he literally violently grabbed the chair away from me and called his security guy who made me leave the office.
My wife could eventually talk a minimum amount of sense into these people after proving to them that Greyhound had indeed not sent the e-ticket. Ironically, the aforementioned female stated that my wife was not the only one in this type of situation basically claiming that she was trying to get a free ride. Guess what, you person with the most inferior intellect, why do you think my wife is not the only person in that situation. Could it be that your employer has a tendency to collect the money and then forget to send e-tickets?
To top it off, Demetrius, the station manager without a manager - after being rude, aggressive, and basically borderline violent - then also pretended to do my wife a courtesy and that he was keeping the peace, which literally leaves one speechless in awe of the irony.
As a side not, when the aforementioned security guard came in his first sentence was 'I ain't do talking'.
Here is what happens: You put stupid people in a position of power and you will see abuse. As soon as Demetrius, the station manager without a manager, and his cronies leave the station they become the lowly submissive cowards that they are.
Truly pathetic. For PC reasons I cannot talk about race, nationality and the likes, but you can read in-between the lines. That behavior does not take you anywhere and you will remain the lowly people that you are. But I rest assured that I don't have to deal with you three idiots ever again. I will send you happy peanut severance package greetings once Greyhound goes out...
Read moreThis review is my overall experience with Greyhound and not for Charlotte Station.
I was traveling from Washington DC to Charlotte. Unfortunately I had missed my earlier bus reservation with different bus service, so I booked greyhound as it was the earliest. It was my first time traveling with Greyhound. It was a hectic journey as it had 3 hours wait at Richmond. The buses are OK and seats are moderately comfortable. But the buses smelt not so good and the AC is on full time high. The driver seemed rude by the tone.
Washington DC - The lady at the counter handed me the ticket. She was aware that I had my suitcase with me but did not tell me that I also have to get a bag tag in order to check it in! What the heck! It was her duty to let me know about this! Moreover, the luggage handler too did not mention anything about it! I got off at Richmond for 3 hours wait and bus switch. I was already tired because of a long international flight.
Richmond - again I boarded the bus and again no one informed me about the bag tag! The luggage handler even asked me where I was traveling, but did not bother at all to let me know about bag tags! The washrooms here are bad and smelt awful.
Raleigh - the station is beautiful and clean. But it all was known after all the enquiry that my suitcase was removed from the bus at Raleigh because it did not have a tag!! But thanks to Sonnette (lady at the customer service), who later found my bag and carefully transferred to Charlotte. It was because of her that I found my bag so early. However, after her help, no one at Raleigh even bothered to pick up the phone!
Charlotte - station is okayish. The washrooms were closed. But the staff is friendly. They helped me with the information about everything. But, I saw people smoking in no smoking zone and no efforts were being made to make them not to smoke in no smoking area. The package department was very helpful and also the customer service.
I got my bag solely because the help I got from the helpful lady at Raleigh. The customer care service took so much time. It wouldn't have happened at all if the lady at ticket counter had provided me with all the information! It is just not okay and not worth spending all your time (luckily it got over in 2 days!) to get your luggage because of this stupid reason! I hated how ugly my journey back to Charlotte became!
I would suggest to explore...
