This is unfortunate as I don't think I've ever left a negative review on here and this AMC was my old "go to". However, earlier tonight the manager Jennifer was incredibly unreasonable. I'm an A-List Stubs member and had just left a screening and came to the front to buy a ticket to another show I was interested in. The shows overlapped slightly (just the trailers) and they said their system didn't allow them to apply my A-List. I know however this is untrue as many a manager has overridden this barrier for me before. She said that it was policy and that she would have to charge me for the ticket. This demonstrates a slight ignorance regarding the policy which was put in place to make sure different people couldn't be using the same A-list benefits. I am the account owner, have never given out my account info, and just had my ID checked to enter the previous film (there is also the additional concern of interrupting patrons that are already viewing the movie but this was an empty theatre and people enter late all the time). I could have walked right into the next film but didn't hesitate to come back to the front and go about it above board (as I always do). I also could have simply bought a ticket to another show that didn't overlap and walked into the film I wanted to see. By the time I tried to call another location and customer service (they didn't answer) I had missed too much of the beginning of the film and there was no longer any point.
It's unclear to me why the manager refused to help and didn't attempt to problem solve whatsoever despite there being multiple ways around the situation.
This location hosts some cool events like the Irish film festival which is going on right now, but has no premium screens or offerings in general. I should also say the late night security guys there are cool and the staff never gave me any problems before. I also originally made this location my "go-to" years ago because they are one of the only locations in the immediate area with $2 validated parking per 3 hours (you will need to pay, leave, and re-enter the lot if you are doing a double feature otherwise you will have to pay 12-20 bucks rather than 4)- but at this point it's not worth it. This manager seems new and over eager to please corporate. Other times when there have been issues with the screen or audio (another review mentions speaker issues in Auditorium 14 which I can corroborate) nothing has been done. I'm assuming, if it still isn't fixed, it is a technical issue beyond the staff's ability...still a repair should have been handled long ago. Unlikely to return to this location unless there is something I really can't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time coming to this theatre since it turned into an AMC. I like the New City space as a whole. Parking is fairly easy, simple elevator ride up to the theatre space. We went to a first showing of the day on a Saturday. Our experience: Walked into the theatre itself and it was hot and muggy. There was no AC on. We had to tell the staff to turn on the AC. I SPECIFICALLY chose an AMC theatre for their nacho cheese. There is an AMC branded cheese cup at literally every other AMC theatre that I frequent. You would think it was a universal thing amongst AMC theatrea. Well, Nope...its not. They offered an off brand that was horrible! Wasn't happy since that is what we specifically chose an AMC for. Coke Zero was out. Again, another reason we chose an AMC theatre...for their Coke products. Regal had Pepsi products that we aren't as thrilled with. The popcorn was EXTREMELY salty. It was painful to eat. My hands were covered in salt from picking up the kernels to eat. I like salt, I am not sensitive to salty foods...when I tell you it was salty, It's not me being picky. I go back and tell them it's inedible. They tell us to maybe come back in 15 minutes when they pop a new batch. Go back 15 minutes later (while the movie is playing, so I'm missing the movie, to get a new bucket of popcorn. Same thing! Someone has the measurements wrong when popping that popcorn or something!
The warm theatre (it did eventually cool down, once the AC was turned on), the inedible popcorn, awful cheese, and lack of Coke Zero really put a damper on our experience. Everything else was ok. My seat had extensive damage to the material on the top and was all cracked up, but I had longer pants on and it didn't bother me once I was sitting. Overall, I would skip this theatre in the future. Half of the movie going experience is the snacks, and the seats are not reclining like other theatres have. There was no offer of a refund for the expensive popcorn or anything even though we had to go back multiple times. (All 3 of us who were there together, all agreed the popcorn...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent on a date with my girlfriend yesterday, for a 6:15pm showing of āEverything Everywhere All at Once.ā We try to buy tickets on the tablet, but we canāt find it. I go ask the girl at the counter (Hispanic, late teens/early 20s), and she tells me they donāt have it.
I walk back to my girlfriend, whoās still standing by the tablet, and let her know the workers told me they donāt have it. Her & I were both confused - and I point to the TV, with the available movies on display, and tell my girlfriend, āBabe, it says they have 2 showings.ā We see something that has the description of the movie, but itās labeled something COMPLETELY different (itās just a bunch of acronyms). I go back up to the counter, and now thereās 3 workers. I ask them, āHey, are you sure you donāt have the movie? I saw something on the tablet that has a similar description,ā and then this female, Caucasian worker recommends me to another theater, that she thinks might have it. But then THANKFULLY the 3rd worker, an African-American gentleman (early/mid 20s) tells me, āYeah, thatās it. We brought it back through the Fan Club.ā I want to thank him so much, because my girlfriend & I ALMOST LEFT, WITHOUT SEEING A MOVIE AT ALL. And then the Caucasian woman goes, āOh. Well, I havenāt worked in 2 weeks.ā
NO SORRY - NO NOTHING. Neither girl even attempted an apology for NOT KNOWING WHAT MOVIES THEY HAVE⦠at a movie theater. Iām really not trying to be difficult, but I feel like knowing what movies are showing is like⦠the least you could ask for. I want to, again, really thank the guy that was working, because we would have left entirely, if it werenāt for him. Iāve been coming to this theater for years (before it was owned by AMC), but they wonāt have my...
