I'm highly intrigued by the amount of peace that I encounter at Lake Shore Park, and wish many more parks throughout our city were like it. I view Lake Shore Park as my gateway to the Lakefront path from Chicago's West-side via Chicago Ave. I take it as a pit stop for water, plus to do a quick upper body workout on the dip and pull up bars on-the-go which pumps me up prior to entering the Lakefront path while on my bike.
There are always healthy activities going on at Lake Shore Park, such as runners & walkers on the running track; tennis players; residents playing with their dogs; residents playing flag football, softball, or even those that choose to sit on the bench and read a book or chat on their phone. I get the feeling that many use it to escape from reality during their lunch break also because you'll see a select few still wearing work uniforms also.
As someone that loves to see the sunrise and sunset, I would imagine that the best times to visit this park would be in the morning, and late evening hours, so that you can get that extra sense of peace w/ the outer beauty that comes with a sunset and...
Read moreThis park is SO wonderful! Folks are there picnicking both on blankets, or using the coated-wire tables and chairs there, or exercising (I routinely see folks using the outdoor resistance machines, running / sprinting on the 1/4-mile track or on the grass which is decently maintained, playing tennis or pickleball on the lit-at-night fenced courts), or using treadmills inside the field house on the south-east edge of the park. Washrooms are there, and some vending machines. On this east end at the north edge are fenced playgrounds for kids with swings, climbing bars etc. At the south-west edge of the park are parallel bars, pull-up bars. Folks are often there doing calisthenics and stretching, also.
Just past the east-side fieldhouse there is a walkway going under LSD to walk along the lake on concrete, to Olive Park Beach, then on further east to Navy Pier.
It's a wonderful park and area to walk. Watching sunset through downtown buildings at Olive Park is...
Read moreIt is a really small park and some of the people that work here are nice but not everybody. The supervisor is rude and ignorant he doesn't care if home lo ess people sleep and use bathroom outdoors when the kids and adults are around. The fitness instructor Tacqui should be the supervisor she is young, bright, and has an excellent memory she knows how to operate and knows how to control people. The supervisor Jacon Z needs to leave so I could go back there and do fitness again. The only ones I know that are sweet and helpful are Jason A and Tacqui that's it everyone else is new. Please get rid of the lazy supervisor and get the young lady Tacqui...
