This is a small but somewhat historic little park located just east of the Chicago Water Pumping Station, bordered by Pearson Street on the north, Chicago Avenue on the south and Mies van der Rohe St. (formerly Seneca Street) on the east. On the north and across Pearson street is the high rise Ritz Carlton Hotel and Residences. The Ritz Carlton is on the former site of the Pearson Hotel, which was built by my great grandmother, my grandfather and great uncle, in 1924. They lost their controlling stock and proprietorship in the Hotel Pearson after the stock market crash of October 1929. The Hotel Pearson was both a transient and mostly residential hotel in its later years. It was closed and demolished in 1971 to make room for the gargantuan Ritz Carlton. My son wound up enjoying himself on the little kids' side for a long time. As cool as the playground looks, it honestly isn't as well-designed as some other parks...
Read moreLoved this park located so close to Luries Hospital. I love how it's a random park located right in the middle of the city. So glad my friend showed us this park during our visit. It was nice to have a place for my kids to burn off energy before the night was over that wasn't just miles of walking. It's definitely a park for younger kids. A 10 year old may not have as much fun as a 7 year old here. It's located right next to one of the city's fire stations.
There's a wooded walkway to the park with benches and street lights and it's everything I'd imagine a picturesque city park would be...
