Rosebud Review
Bread for the table.
Awesome way to start… small and simple, a lot of restaurants want to fill you up on bread. Garlic Parmesan bread was packed full of flavor moist and had a very nice buttery flavor.
Shell Fish bouquet. 7.2% Pricing a little high, but overall not a bad introduction to an appetizer.
Oysters 8.9% Clean and shucked to perfection, would not make any changes.
Crab Cake Needs a little more crab. Also could use a little bit more searing. Sauce was on point. a score 6.7%
Knife and fork bacon. I really had high hopes for this. As pork belly is dominating the food market. This pork belly was not bad, but could’ve been charbroiled a little longer and should’ve been kissed with barbecue sauce but it was actually drowned in barbecue sauce. Score 5.1
Prime Rib. The money shot…..
Prime Rib should be prepared medium rare. The cut we received was medium rare but for some reason, they flashed seared the outside of the prime rib. I’ve reviewed 103 restaurants and I’ve never seen this done. It actually made the prime rib a little tougher. We should’ve stuck to a rare cut.
Cowboy Steak. 40 day dry aged. I do love a cowboy steak. ( Bone in Ribeye)
First steak over cook-temperature was probably around 135 it was closer to medium’
2nd attempt steak was a blue rare or less. Very cold on the inside.
*Hostess claimed steak was at 122. He was not very professional also raised his voice, stating you said 122 this is 122. I said touch the steak he refused. 122’ which is a rare steak, he’s not wrong but don’t raise your voice at me. The steak never seen a temp of 122. He then asked what temp would you like it at I said 125, he said fine. Takes the steak away and brings me a 3rd steak!!!!
3rd attempt. Simply Perfection…. The flavor Is on point!!! The sear and crust is perfect. The nutty and blue cheese flavor and taste is on point as you would expect from a dry aged steak. 9.3%
Small tip make this a big deal. Get some cowboy butter and a blow torch and put on a show for your customers people would love this. Touch the butter!!!!
Waiter 7.8% We weren’t a fan of the fist bumping. But that’s ok, keep in mind though this is fine dining not a party! It may not be everybody’s jam.
Btw the hostess was visibly upset when I mentioned that I would be making a review on this restaurant.
Owner, there’s no need for a rebuttal here. This is something that I do as a hobby on the side. I enjoy fine dining at its finest and have been everywhere between Milwaukee and Chicago. If I can give you one small tip, make some small changes with service. And I understand that you get a lot of different types of people in there. The service that your people offer should be uniform, across-the-board, and should not be any different from one customer to the next. Because you never know what type of customer you have in...

Read moreI can’t say enough good things about Rosebud Steakhouse after our experience tonight! We are originally from the suburbs, new to Streeterville, and wanted a nice dinner as part of a festive evening strolling down the Mag Mile exploring shop windows and lights, and, boy, did we choose correctly!
When I made the reservation on OpenTable, I noted that I needed wheelchair accessibility since I use a power wheelchair full-time. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were politely shown to our table at the front of the restaurant and I was greeted by name (I’m sure they don’t get too many reservations requesting wheelchair accessibility, but we eat out a ton, and this doesn’t happen a lot to me). So the meal was already off to a fantastic start! Our server did a great job helping me confirm that my choice of Malbec was right for us, and then he gave my husband great advice on his steak. He was also very friendly and polite about me piecing together sides as a vegetarian and was very kind to our 11-year-old autistic son when he ordered his food. Our server was also more than happy to bring me some roasted garlic to put on my vegetables, which I greatly appreciated.
Everything we ate was absolutely delicious, and we actually cancelled a reservation elsewhere for next Sunday and will be eating at Rosebud Steakhouse again with my parents to celebrate Christmas with them! We are very grateful for the wonderful food and service and will be sure to pass on, as our son said, “A 10...
