Oak Street Beach Restaurant — Restaurant in Chicago

DO NOT waste your time or money here. My husband and I had about an hour to grab something before our ride was set to pick us up. We waited in line for awhile before asking the hostess how long the wait would be for 2 people from that point. She looked at her tablet, told us she had no clue how long it would be, and said, "I'll get to you when I get to you." Ridiculous, for someone in the service industry, to believe that to be an appropriate response. Because we aren't from the area, we had no option but to wait a bit longer going to be seated soon, which we thankfully were. We take the only thing she says is available, which is a table in the sun, but we don't mind because we're in a hurry and from AZ, so the sun doesn't scare us. After everything to that point, we're prepared with our full order to speed things along. Unfortunately, the terrible service continued as we sat for over 10 minutes while 2 servers checked on every table but ours. By then, our ride was 15 minutes out, and there was no chance we'd get our drinks, much less our food, in any reasonable amount of time. I spoke to a manager on the way out to make him aware of our horrible experience, and I got no sincere apology, several excuses, and no accountability for his staff's poor service. We will never return, and we'll be sure to recommend against anyone else doing so until they adequately address their customer service issues, from the hostess, to the servers, to the manager. If you're comfortable disregarding basic requests or valid complaints from your customers, you should absolutely NOT be in the service industry. Beware and avoid this place...

If zero stars was an option, I would choose that. This place has by far the WORST service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. It is lucky that it is the only restaurant within a quarter mile of the beach that you can get a quick, cheap bite to eat. The food here was decent for a beach bar and as a tourist, I was pretty satisfied with their Chicago Dog, but I was only able to enjoy it after no one bothered picked up my meal from the pick-up counter, it sat cold for 20 minutes, and the manager had to order a new one for me. The only saving grace is the manager, who somehow was able to please customers despite having a staff of incompetent teenagers working a summer job. After sitting for 15 minutes without so much as a hello, one waiter insisted that we get up an order at the bar because "she wasn't our server". Another waiter ignored our request to take our order because he was too busy flirting with two customers, and a third waiter flat out ignored us and did not speak to customers whatsoever (he did joke with his coworkers throughout his shift, so a language barrier was not the issue). DO NOT EAT HERE, I repeat, DO NOT EAT HERE! Bring food with you or eat before you get to the beach. Best of the luck to the manager for making the most of a terrible staff and being the only person capable of providing...

Pretty awful. People seated after we're served first. Had to flag down someone to ask if any waitress was assigned to the table, thankfully she took us on. However, my friend wanted a Virgin mojito due to being pregnant and the waitress brought a Margarita, took it back then came and said they can't make a Virgin mojito. Even if it's pre-mixed my guess is they can put soda, cane sugar, mint, lime and ice together. We had wanted food but since no one was paying attention we lost interest. Wanted the check. My friends mom got up and hunted the waitress down to let her know, waited long enough that we went up to the bar to pay and couldn't because the waitress had to run it. Eventually she came with the bill and the manager checked in on us. Maybe we weren't supposed to be her table but the fact we weren't noticed or served when others came after and we're it was pretty awful. Manager did nothing but yell at her which...
