When people have passion for chocolate, and they give it more than lipservice, you get Maverick Chocolate. Located in Findlay Market, Maverick offers a selection of amazing chocolate bars, bonbons, and chocolate beverages. While samples are free, you will not get out the store without spending some money. It is not inexpensive and it is not chocolate you down in one go. It is meant to be savored, enjoyed, and appreciated. The employees are knowledgeable, and the chocolate is made from absolute scratch. I appreciate that they source their cacao directly from farmers. At $8-$13 a bar, it is a treat for me. I typically go with the Fahrenheit 451. Fahrenheit 513 has some spice to it. Today I opted for the 65% Espresso Dark Chololate. Phenomenal. The staff are happy to educate you about chocolate, and on the inside of the bar packaging, is a chocolate tasting guide. It tells you what to look for in quality chocolate, including appearance, sound, aroma, taste, texture, and finish. I give it four stars because, while I understand chocolate made from scratch and sourced directly will be more expensive, I feel it is prohibitively expensive.
