Booked my room through the website. After checking in and going up to my room I discovered it was NOT the room I had booked. Front desk apologized saying they didn't know how it happened, but the room I had booked wasn't available until the next day. The room I had booked was advertised as a suite with a jetted tub for a romantic getaway. I should mention that by definition, a suite is a larger, more spacious room, usually with a sitting area, for a more luxurious and private experience for guests. The website also listed a coffee/tea maker in the room. My husband has issues with his knees/back so we were really looking forward to being able to relax in the jetted tub after our 6+ hour trip. There was no coffee/tea maker in the room, and obviously no jetted tub. Again, apologies and we were told only the suites had the in-room coffee/tea makers. The next day we planned to visit the Falls and then we had a family event in the afternoon. We were told we could leave our belongings at the front desk for the move to the original room if we wouldn't be at the hotel at 11:30 or so (after check-out / room cleaning). We did NOT feel comfortable with that, so we made sure we were at the hotel at 11:30 when we were told the occupants had not checked out yet! There was more than one suite with a jetted tub, and if we could wait 10-15 minutes it should be ready. When we moved to the suite, imagine our surprise when we found this was a much SMALLER room, there was NO coffee/tea maker, and the jetted tub was tiny. My 6'3" husband would never have been able to fit, let alone relax in it. THIS was what was advertised as a suite for a romantic getaway???? When we again asked about the advertised in-room coffee/tea maker we were told NONE of the rooms had them, but they were getting one for us. Hmmm. It never happened. Not only is there FALSE ADVERTISING on the website, but we were lied to by not one, but four different people during our stay. Oh, and the hot breakfast was also a joke. Tiny, paper thin pancakes, powdered eggs, and after 3 passes through the toast machine barely warmed English muffins. The layout of the breakfast area with plates beside the toast machine and tables very close to the breakfast bar meant people were clustered together waiting for their chance to get to the food because of having to wait for the people waiting for their toasted items. Rooms were not clean, in fact, we found socks and a pair of underwear in our original room and the jet tub had sunken, black caulk, and the overflow also had disgusting black gunk. I would NEVER recommend this...
Read moreI don’t normally make bad reviews, but I needed to because it was just so sneaky and shady of both booking.com and the hotel. I mistakenly booked the wrong date, which is my fault, so I requested cancellation, but also tried to request the date to be changed. But shortly after I just needed to cancel entirely so I called the hotel and a lady who picked up and rudely told me I need to call booking.com customer service to cancel which I did call and told the representative my situation that I needed to cancel entirely and he told me he will request to see if they will waive the fee. After my call, I got a cancellation request email and was told to wait for a response. Later in the evening, I got an email saying they changed my date even though I requested it to be entirely cancelled. I called customer service again, and they said they will send them an email to request another cancellation. I decided to call the hotel again and a man picked up. I was trying to tell him my situation and to see why my date changed but he just kept cutting me off. Told me that he cannot cancel or change anything in their end and that I have to pay the cancellation fee. I called customer service again because at this point I'm super frustrated and upset. The lady told me that the hotel has to approve the change before they can do anything, meaning they ignored the cancellation request which was requested twice and one of them was when I called booking.com after I requested the date change. I honestly wasn't this upset until they moved my date because it was my mistake at first for booking the wrong date. My original cancellation would've been $126 but because they changed my date even though I requested a cancellation after thinking I was doing the right thing by calling customer service and having them inform the hotel of the situation but now I regret it and my fee doubled to $289. They could've just denied my free cancellation request and to be honest I would've understood why and just paid it but no they decided to change the date to scam me I guess. The next day I called again and the last person I spoke to on Booking.com just hung up after putting me on hold. It's upsetting that both Booking.com and the hotel workers treat people so badly. They just don’t care. I get that I was no longer a staying customer, but doing that makes me feel like their goal is to get as much money from me. Just very disappointed with the...
Read moreI am not one to leave reviews, however i thought this one was unavoidable, a must as a forewarning to my fellow New yorkers. Sure this is a fantastic spot as far as all of the shops and convenience stores nearby. However the service 20 thumbs DOWN. First off the card reader was apparently not working so the clerk had to manually punch in our credit card numbers. Hm.whatever...there was only 2 ppl in front of us and we sat and waited for 20 minutes, the lighting was so eerie, very very dim and the air was musty. Finally get to our room and sure its decent average still the musky smell though, oh and thought it was odd for a bathroom air vent fan to be directly in the middle of the ceiling above/ inside the shower. anywho. 11am rolls around my belongings are together and im just finishing gathering the last of my things double triple checking you know. I even took out my own garbage when i come back this lady idk manager maybe is standing outside my room door and my card wont work shes like are you grabbing the rest of your things I'm like um yeah shes standing therr watching me w the door open im like excuse you can i grab my things and be on my way and she says u were smoking in here? I said what no she continues to argue so i yelled to housekeeper to see if she thought it smelled like smoke she says no, manager lady says its because i sprayed something i said no but i do have spray on deoderant and it already stunk in here. She just wanted that extra 100$ fee so badly. N imnlike no not happening. So i took pics before leaving just in case, my friend is waiting in the lobby while all this is happening so i tell her i took pictures she showed me a tiny ash in the corner of the wall a picture of it I'm like whose to say that wasn't from a previous stay do you yourself regurarly inspect each and every corner of these rooms immediately before and after she of course tried saying yeah.. then proceeded to try and tell me i tooknmy garbage out to try and hide the evidence i could only laugh at that like it was that serious to her she used a word as if it were a crime scene. Lo i was like wow any other hotel manager wouldve been thankful for that but thats ok and this is what reviews are made for that i am from the area have been my whole life and would let others made aware she came bacl with and now we know who you are not sure if that was a threat seein as though im american but yup had to follow through...
