It has so much potential to be such an incredible store...But it is so overpriced. Seriously people, these little tiny- unorganized-polished- pebbles they tell you are raw crystals that they charge an arm and a leg for.. you can seriously buy raw crystals 10Ă the size from so many other places for soooooooo much cheaper! Every thing, every single thing- all the trinkets, the books, the cards, they are so overpriced! I'm not sure people realize you can buy every one of those same items from the actual places they are purchased from or even online for a huge fraction cheaper??! Or better yet from the actual crystal miners themselves!
I always liked magic moons great idea for their store it's just way too expensive for me. But over the past 2 decades I've known of the place, they've never changed their ways.
And most all staff I've ever encountered make the whole experience of browsing and purchasing things very uncomfortable with their death stares and snotty attitudes!
Update: And the miners who travel around the entire world mining these crystals and then tumbling them into smooth stones with their own hands....are the ones who travel great distances again-across the entire world- to make it possible for your owner to travel in-state or to CO or NH for example.. where these supplies are sold in bulk very cheap by the miners, then resold in little shops like yours where they're marked up 20Ă the actual price, like every thing else there. Smh. Too expensive is my honest review and the point I'm getting at, pretty sure that's obvious.
And to the review below mine....
They treat E V E R Y one that way! Well put together, even religious folk wearing hijab. They stare at you hovering over you the entire time. As if they don't make enough money over charging for others hard work then re-sale and standing crammed between counter and goods for sale waiting for each and every item to be penciled down and wrung up..very strict documentation upon purchase..! Like I said it makes for a very uncomfortable and very unpleasant experience which is why my family and I will...
Read moreWhile the place is amazingly stocked with all sorts of wonderful metaphysical accoutrements, one woman's rude comment about customers (in front of several customers including me) soured it and kyboshed a larger sale. She had been eating at a counter in the side of a store but because she was AT the counter, and no one else seemed available to ask(the only other person I had seen till them was someone at the register on the other side of the shop) people (including myself) asked her questions about the many items in that section. I waited till she was finished with the person ahead of me, and asked her mine. At some point shortly after, she relocated to the other side of the store, again, behind the counter, by the register. As I came to there to pay for my items, she said (loudly and openly) to the other woman working "I came over to this side so people would leave me alone so I could finish eating. They kept asking me questions!" .... Pro tip: there are a few simple solutions for that. One is don't eat at the only counter in a packed room with no other staff aside from the cashier on the other side of the store, (divided by a solid wall)who usually can't leave their register) visible. Another would be humor- hang a sign around your neck "gone to lunch. Be back soon." Or the old fashioned way- sorry I'm on break. __(invisible potential other staff...
Read moreI'm honestly glad to see other people report being harassed by employees. I would also like to explain my experience as well. I wrote a review when this happened but it appears to have been deleted. I went there to shop one day and I never had a bad experience beforehand. There was a lady with blue hair who kept staring at my friend and me. Arms folded and everything, clearly watching us. She was not trying to be discreet about it at all. I asked her questions to make it obvious I wasn't there to steal, which is honestly a ridiculous thing I should I feel the need to do as a customer. She made the atmosphere and shopping experience SO uncomfortable. It was even more suspicious because she only did that to US. While I understand you want to make sure your items in your store are safe, the way this woman went about it was all wrong. I used to work in security and everything she did was what we were taught NOT to do. I haven't been back which is sad. I enjoyed this store and even asked if they were hiring at one point but that one experience was enough for me to not want anything to do with that place anymore. I'll continue going to Jay Street. It's extremely disappointing feeling so unwelcome in a witch shop. *Changed the star rating because beyond that employee experience, it was still a great...
