I went here for a birthday dinner. There were 3 adults and one child. The brought us 2 menus and 2 sets of silverware. When I asked for a 3rd menu I was informed that the menu would be the same as the other 2 we already had. I don't know about you, but I like my own menu. Especially with tapas.
We ordered 10 tapas for our party. Two plates came out, and our waitress set them down and left. We still had only 2 sets of silverware, and 2 small plates. She came back after our food was nearly cold with the 3rd tapa, and I requested more plates and silverware. The rest of the food came out in a timely manner, and was good. The waitress improved greatly after that.
So much so that she noticed that our goat cheese tapa was still half full and we had run out of bread. She asked if I wanted more, to which I replied "yes". A man then brought out my bread. The bread that came with the food was sliced, grilled, buttered and garlicky. He brought me a cold unsliced bread lump. It was also noticeably stale. To the point we couldn't eat it. I'm not sure why that was allowed out of the kitchen. I would have gladly paid for more bread, and it was offered to me. I'm assuming that he was management of some sort also.
Overall the service was really subpar, and the food was hit or miss flavor wise. Although I would have given an extra star if it wasn't for the bread...
Read more"I recently had the pleasure of dining at Barcelona in Clayton, and it was a great experience from start to finish. The ambiance of the restaurant is inviting, with a cozy atmosphere that sets the stage for a delightful meal.
The menu at Barcelona is a culinary journey, offering a diverse selection of Spanish-inspired dishes that cater to various palates. The tapas-style dining allows for a communal meal, perfect for sharing and savoring different flavors.
The service was great as well.
Now, let's talk about the food – it was delicious. Every dish was deliciously different and flavorful. The Empanadas were a standout, perfectly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, complemented by a creamy sauce. The Gambas al Ajillo, with succulent shrimp in a garlic-infused olive oil, was another highlight that left a lasting impression. Finally, the Ahi Tuna, still smiling.
To complement the meal, the drink menu offers an extensive selection of Spanish wines and creative cocktails. The Sangria was a refreshing choice, perfectly balanced and served in a generous portion.
In conclusion, my dining experience at Barcelona in Clayton was nothing short of amazing. I would highly recommend to anyone seeking an authentic and memorable Spanish dining experience.

Read moreI have very mixed feelings about this place after visiting for the first time today with some friends.
On the upside, I really enjoyed the PLATO DE EMBUTIDOS, or assorted Spanish sausages. They aren't at all spicey, but they were perfectly seasoned and came with a delicious yellow sauce...it was the consistency of mayo and had a slight sweet, cheesey flavor. My husband thought this dish wasn't particularly special. Maybe I'm a little bias because I really enjoy sausage...
Also, a few of the desserts on the menu sounded absolutely delicious.
The down side....
The other plates we had were fine...grilled asparagus, cured ham and cheese. But I came to realize that when it comes to tapas, this place just doesn't have the selection I want. I want and awesome meat and cheese plate option. I probably want some sliders. And I definitely want some dates that are wrapped with bacon and stuffed with cheese or chorizo.
Also, our service was spotty. Sometimes he was ready to serve and very friendly. And then we'd go through an inattentive phase.
Lastly, they CHARGE for soda refills! This seemed particularly ridiculous considering the "soda" was club soda.
Part of me wants to go back, have sausage and give the desserts a try. I guess I'll browse the pictures posted here on Yelp and see if they're...
