I usually have great experiences here, which is why I was so disappointed today. We get sat at booth 21, and I brush off what I think is some dust off the booth and sit down. Then, I see a carpet beetle larvae molt on the table. I’m not phased cause carpet beetles are everywhere here and one molt can stick to places. As I go to brush it off, more molts move from the air movement. I realize there are at least 10 of these molts on this table. I check the part of the booth I didn’t brush off and realized that it wasn’t dust, but even more molts. So, me and my dad move to the table across which thankfully doesn’t have this problem. We would’ve moved to 22 but it also had this issue, as well as booths 23 and 24. A worker comes to bring our food to 21 and we let him know we moved booths because of all the bug molts. He looks at the booth and mutters a small “oh”. Then just walks off. He never comes back with even a wet rag to do a quick wipe down. Didn’t even care. Now, I understand shirking some opening responsibilities, I’ve been lazy too. But when a customer brings it to your attention and you don’t even do a single thing to cover your obvious negligence to clean any of these tables before opening? That’s unacceptable. Not to mention many other things were dirty as well. Dust piling up on the metal separator between booth sides, all of the tops of booths being dusty with occasional scraps of food leftover. When I looked around I realized probably nothing had been wiped down well in days. This total lack for cleanliness in your restaurant is unbelievable. Your kitchen can be spotless, but what does it matter if the table I have to eat off of and the seats I have to sit on are disgusting? I will give credit by saying that the food was fine, and so was the service. But if you want a clean place to sit and eat,...
Read moreThey also own the Grub chain I learned which has a restaurant near by - Since nobody is ever at Grub and they have higher prices, and don't accept cash I feel that Hopdoddy should close this location and rename the Grub to Hopdoddy.
The food is better at Hopdoddy but I think they have a bigger kitchen then Grub, the thing Grub has going for it though it a large open parking area which Hopdoddy doesn't have. I think they would have done this move already if they were not constrained by the contract they signed when they bought Grub.
The other benefit is that currently Hopdoddy is closer to the University but that can be a negative if you want to get away for a quieter lunch.
The only negative side of Hopdoddy is that the parking spots cost $3.45 for the smallest amount of time or you have to park way in the back and hope you can get a spot. If you pay for parking you need a credit card which I hate. The only reason I wouldn't keep going to this place is to avoid the hassle of getting in and out of it.
My expectation is that Grub will be closed and Hopdoddy will move to that location as it is more seats for people, better parking and just needs to maybe have some expansion done to the kitchen. Grub should generate more money but seems to be setup to fail.
Hopdoddy used to be my 10 year old nieces favorite place but they changed something about the Ceasar dressing about 6 months ago and now she won't go back, and is very angry about it. I guess she liked to dip her fries in...
Read moreI had a pretty disappointing experience here. The Hopdoddys up in the DFW area allow you to seat yourself, get the food yourself, etc. It's a burger bar. However, this location was trying to run like a restaurant. Not only was the amount of food very little for the rather high price, they gave me smaller sizes of both drink and food than what I ordered and I only knew because of comparing with a nearby tables food. They would not give me an itemized receipt at the register so I had to manually do the math to show the server that what I received was less than what I ordered. After all this, the only recourse offered was to bring out the shake size I had actually paid for.
So, let's talk about the food. The shake, something that is meant to set Hopdoddys apart from competitors, was quite simply not good. Granted, this is subjective, but I did not enjoy chocolate in my root beer shake. Also, they came out already quite melted. The burger, while small for it's price, was the only redeeming quality of my visit. It was very tasty, but not enough to fill me; and I had to eat elsewhere afterwards. I've left a comparison picture of the burger with my relatively small hands.
Overall, I would not return. There are other options in this general area with better service and food for a...
