We travel all over the country reviewing pizza joints. We were at another pizza place in Dallas when we met the owners of Slice420, after a brief conversation with them, we promised we'd travel to CO to review Slice420 and we did! These are people that make an incredible product, but they have an even better back story. If you get a chance, do yourself a favor and read their "About Us" on their website.
ATMOSPHERE: It's a lot of fun and in a great location. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside. We found the staff to be very patient and helpful in helping us make our selections.
FOOD: They offer a couple of different options for crust: NY Style and Detroit Style, we tried both and were very impressed with both, especially the Detroit Style. The Detroit Style was baked to absolute perfection. The 50/50 Meatball: Very surprised by these, they appear to be homemade. They were very moist and had a unique orange sauce that also appeared to be homemade. I'd definitely order these again. Slice of Buffalo Chicken (NY Style): As far as buffalo chicken goes, it didn't do a whole lot for me, it was pretty standard. Slice of The Sophia (Detroit Style): This thing stole the show... It's packed with pepperoni that was perfectly cooked, carmalized onions, cherry peppers, and an amazing hot honey sauce (Mike's Hot Honey). At a minimum, you need to try this. Slice of the Reaper (NY Style): If you like meat, you're going to LOVE THIS... This thing is packed with pepperoni, sausage, bacon, meatballs, and plenty of cheese. One change I'd ask for in the future is I'd ask for no ricotta, it overtook the rest of the ingredients when it was included in a bite. I should point out that I don't care much for ricotta anyway, so if it's your thing, you won't mind! Slice of The Works (Detroit Style): This was a close second for us, the caramelized onions really stood out and the crust on this slice... It couldn't have been any better. This place is in the top 3 of Detroit Style I've had.
RANCH DRESSING: I know it's random, but ranch with pizza is a must and part of every review. This is one area that could use some improvement, it appeared to be from a bottle. I was craving some homemade jalapeño ranch, which I'm starting to see at more and more pizza joints!
SERVICE: We asked a ton of questions, took way too long to order, changed our order a couple of times, and the staff just kept making us feel like family; never felt rushed. These people clearly care about their customers and the food came out quick!
BATHROOM: Didn't get a chance to check it out, but the rest of the restaurant seemed very clean.
RANDOM: They only offered plastic utensils, it'd be nice to have a real fork and knife (just a personal preference)... I really appreciated that they had garlic powder on the table!
OVERALL: 10/10... Slice420 has moved up to #6 on the...

Slice 420 is, hands down, the best pizza in the area. You also can't go wrong at Upstate Pizzeria in Avenue 19 (Downtown COS) and Decent Pizza in Ivywilds (South Tejon COS). No other places really come close to these three, and Slice 420 has the best pizza and variety of them all. Large, delicious, top notch pies.
Where Slice 420 falls flat on its face is customer service. Over the years, we have ordered many pies and slices, and nearly every time we have been disappointed. They range from coupon/text message offer mixups (that didn't work online when you try to use them), to staff forgetting orders, to ambivalent and/or miserable employees, to flat out not delivering pizza once it has been ordered. For years we have, due to our love of their pizza, given Slice 420 many, many chances to redeem themselves.
THIS IS FINE. Mistakes happen. The most important thing is that IT GETS MADE RIGHT - somehow. We have, however, never felt like any situation has been made right. DON'T MAKE USE ASK - JUST DO IT. Countless times I have wanted pizza and have avoided Slice 420 because their service is so poor.
I'm trying to offer constructive criticism: train your employees, and make them feel empowered AND encouraged to make things right when things don't go the best. I get a sense that they don't feel that way every single time I give Slice 420 another chance and the ball gets dropped somewhere.
The Service Recovery Paradox explains how fixing a problem that occurred can lead to higher satisfaction than when no problem occurred at all. Use this to your advantage.
Love your pizza. We tried again today and again weren't impressed for reasons I won't divulge. Again, not trying to get anyone in trouble or complain. Some day, we will give you all another chance.
Your customer service needs improvement....
Read moreWow. This place is amazing. The pizza is fresh, creative and delicious. You MUST try the Sophia, the hot honey really pops and you just want to go back for more.
The atmosphere of Slice 420 in Old Colorado City is just as delightful as its menu. The moment you step in, you're greeted with a vibrant, cozy ambiance that instantly makes you feel at home. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to recommend their favorites or explain the unique toppings and combinations that make their pizzas stand out.
Beyond the Sophia, their menu is full of surprises. The 'Cannoli Con Carne' is a meat lover's dream, loaded with savory toppings, and the 'Veggie Volcano' offers a tantalizing mix of fresh vegetables and spices, perfect for those seeking a lighter but equally tasty option.
What's impressive is their commitment to quality. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients in every bite – the crust, perfectly cooked, offers a satisfying crunch and a lovely, yeasty aroma. And for those with a sweet tooth, their dessert pizzas are a must-try. The 'Chocolate Bliss' is a heavenly mix of rich chocolate and sweet, gooey toppings that perfectly rounds off the meal.
In terms of value, Slice 420 hits the sweet spot. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. You leave feeling full, satisfied, and planning your next visit.
In summary, Slice 420 is a gem in Old Colorado City. It's not just a pizza place; it's an experience – one that delights the senses and brings a creative twist to the classic pizza. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place is a must-visit for any...
