Update 7/13/24 Came here for breakfast because I was craving bacon. I ordered some skillet and my date ordered bacon, egg, and toast a la carte. He said his was pretty standard. Mine was bland save for the jalapenos. It was supposed to come with green chili (i saw none), and loads of cheddar (it had very little). And, sadly within two hours, my body voided it all. 🫤 Don't think I will come back for breakfast. A friend of mine had moved away a few years ago and when she came back into town she wanted to come here for dinner. never heard of it myself but I'm a foodie so I'm open to try anything pretty much. But, as a foodie the taste of the food is more important to me than anything else. I'm not the kind of foodie that just eats food because I love to eat, I'm the kind of foodie that is passionate about good tasting food.
When we arrived to the restaurant it wasn't that busy. The parking lot was pretty empty, the restaurant not too full. I like that you come in and just seat yourself and the menu is already on the table so you don't have to wait for somebody to seat you or wait for someone to bring you a menu after seating yourself. by the time our waiter came to the table, we had decided what we wanted so we were able to order our meal and our drinks at the same time.
I love a grilled cheese, but not just cheese between bread. many times if I go to a restaurant and they have grilled cheese on the menu, I will order it. But usually I have to add something to it because they're basically just offering bread with cheese sometimes a tomato. most of the time I'm disappointed or I have to spend so much money adding extras to make it worth it. But, after perusing the menu and debating between a few items, I went with the grilled cheese (idr the actual name). The grilled cheese came with bacon and they have four flavors of bacon . I asked my waiter which one he recommended (honey cured) and went with that. I added pickles, and chose sweet potato fries as my side. My dining companion chose a breakfast sammach as they serve breakfast all day long.
I got to say, that was the best grilled cheese I've ever eaten that I didn't make. It was not overwhelming with bread, and I could taste everything. it was delicious! The sweet potato fries were very good as well. Amanda said she enjoyed her meal as well.
after our meal we went for the ice cream sandwich. the first few bites I was a little overwhelmed by the ice cream. if I wasn't paying $8 for it I probably would have just taken one bite and let it go. But, because it was an $8 item I told myself I had to eat the whole thing. by the time I had finished it, I was enjoying it. An acquired taste I suppose. The reason I was a little disappointed is because the cookies weren't warm, and the amount of ice cream in it was a bit much. But, as I said, as I continued eating it I enjoyed it more.
our waiter was friendly, the room was a bit noisy, but the music was good. all in all I had a wonderful meal and I will likely be back.
sorry celiacs, I didn't see anything on the menu that was gluten free. Went back with another friend. She ordered an openface burger and a shake. New pictures.

Read moreTL;DR: service and atmosphere were great, kitchen needs more quality control. Will try again in the future.
First time coming here. Our waitress was awesome. She gave us enough time with the menu and was able to answer our questions. She even recognized me as I was walking back to my table to ask me if I wanted another drink. We definitely loved looking at the beautiful, old building. It's not often that businesses hold the history of a place in high regard, which is honestly quite sad as this city has so much history. We both ordered drinks, she the bloody Mary, and me the raspberry mimosa. We both greatly enjoyed our respective drinks. Mine was both tart and sweet, an excellent choice of champagne to complement the raspberry liqueur. She said her bloody Mary was very tasty and satisfyingly savory. The only disappointment was the food (I know, restaurant, food's gotta be good, but it could easily be improved). We both had the Mile High Mother. Both of us had bacon that was overcooked/burnt. I had one burnt piece, and she had only one not-burned piece. It was hard to tell with hers, as she had the peppered bacon. It's an easy fix to not overcook bacon. Overall, the taste of the dish was great. However, we were also disappointed that it got cold so fast. The dish is served in a cast iron skillet. Those pans could easily be preheated to keep the food warm, but the pan was lukewarm and probably stole some of the heat from the food. My compatriot ordered a side of green chili, which tasted like salsa with extra cumin. Maybe just not our style? But definitely not like the green chili we are accustomed to, being so close to Pueblo. I asked for the banana bread as my side, instead of toast. I was quite excited, but the kitchen heats the bread by putting it on their cooktop. The bread ended up being oily and charred on one side. Char is great on a steak, but burnt sugar never tastes good. Lastly, we ordered a cinnamon roll to go. Disappointed is an understatement. The menu describes it as a favorite and implies that it sells out quickly. We ended up with a spiral bread roll with two containers of cream cheese frosting. I understand that high-quality cinnamon is expensive, but with the amount I found on our roll, I could've probably bought the equivalent for less than 2 pennies. There was virtually no cinnamon on the bread, and the roll literally only tasted like bread. I'm not sure how they make their cinnamon rolls, but if this is unusual to other guests, maybe this was a bad batch? Otherwise, they may need to revisit their recipe and adjust the quantity of cinnamon they're using. I think a little bit of retraining and quality control could quash all of the issues we ran into with food. I look forward to trying Muffs again, hopefully to a better, warmer, less-burnt...
Read moreWe looked forward to going to mother muffs! We flew in from Atlanta, and were excited to see they had tenderloins on the menu. We are born and raised in Iowa (home of tenderloins) and made mother muffs our #1 restaurant stop. Cheese sticks were humongous and delicious- share with many people. (Took about 25 minutes to get)The root beer float was good and what you normally expect . It took a very long time to get the tenderloin (like 50 minutes plus after finishing the appetizer) . Waitress was not very attentive. When it finally came- it was clearly burnt/dark. We mentioned it immediately to the person who brought it out and they were like, “oh, you think so?” - “um yes, look at it”. She quickly offered to bring another one. We were already tired of waiting, we flew in that day, it was late, and it took 50 plus minutes to get one burnt sandwich. We declined and said we don’t want to wait anymore. The girl then said “well okay your waitress will bring your ticket” and quickly walked off. We waited and waited - about 20 min , and our waitress came over and was clueless to the situation. We told her we are waiting on the check, ready to leave. She offered to make another sandwich and pointed to the large party that came in that she has been tending to, and I told her we’ve already stayed over an extra hour for no reason, just ready to leave now. Her attitude and tone changed completely and said “ok, I’ll bring a ticket” and just walked away. She came back to the table to set it down without speaking, I gave her the card immediately to pay. She eventually came back, set it on the table , and said “have a good night” and walked away. Not a “sorry for your experience”, not an anything . I’m typically the type to tip well as if items were never removed but the attitudes were so off putting that I actually left a bad tip and a note on their reaction/how they handled it . As an Iowan witnessing a burnt tenderloin- that was bad enough, their attitudes made it...
